That’s exactly what they are for. I know you don’t want to argue it, but they have been on every soft top since 1997 for the same purpose. @Rob_Quadratec even shows how to use them right here in this video.


Thant being said, I never use them because they end up scratching and damaging the window.

Old post, I know, but my 87 has them for the rear as well.
