We are thinking of purchasing a small Rpod that weighs 3159 lbs dry. How well do you think the diesel would tow it? I have 2022 JTRD with the tow package and I’ll be running on 37” Ko2’s and I also have the Arcus front bumper with a winch.

It will do great. Just watch tongue and don't drive it like a racecar up the ike gauntlet. If you find it running warm don't turn it off when you fuel up. Maybe consider putting gears in to ease the stress. What will it be wet?

Probably 4,000 or less. I’ve been browsing posts and it looks like people are towing this weight pretty easily until it gets into the hot days and towing uphill.

Exactly, long as you aren't a race car going up a mountain in 90* weather it's fine.

You will be fine. Mine is a JTRD on 35” tires.

When climbing hills, slow down, stay out of the throttle. In my Tacoma you could stay on it with no I’ll effects…. The 3.0 builds a fair amount of heat, so be easy with the go pedal on inclines.

It’s way more fuel efficient than my 4.0 Tacoma was while towing though.

I traded my Willys Gasser after towing my 3000lb a few trips.
The difference with the diesel is night day.
With the gasser I was wringing its neck to keep up with traffic on the highway.
First couple trips with the diesel I would catch myself cruising at 85mph +.
I am still on the stock 33s though.

I pull a ~5000lb Airstream. Great fuel economy (~22mpg) and the rpms are much lower than the gasser at full torque and hp. Set up a weight distribution hitch properly and keep the tongue weight around 500lbs and you'll be happy. Don't expect it to tow or feel like a full size truck.
