Just purchased a tent trailer.
Dry weight about 1000 lbs. Max about 3000.

Not cognisable behind the Gladiator.

16' basecamp. I bought the version without the rock guards to keep the tongue weight down. Lithium battery swap to further reduce it is next on the list. 2800 lbs empty, I haven't towed in heat with it yet, but the 3.6 had no issue pulling it, so I'm hoping the diesel is the same way.....

Be careful towing especially with a heavy trailer long distance or if you do a lot of offroad with the trailer... Watch from the 11:50 mark, they discuss the frames weak point and where it bends and cracks. Bulges under the rear bump stop on the bottom of the frame.

Old news. There's 2 threads about that.

Home built because I couldn't stomach the price of what companies were charging for a box on wheels. No idea what the weight is.

Cruiser Hitch 16RD, typically right around 4k pounds when towing. No issues so far in triple digit heat or hauling up the Rockies in Colorado.

Just about 4700lbs empty plus another 300 in freshwater (39 gal). Total weight rating 6000lb and total axle capacity 7000lbs.

Long mountain climbs out of cool San Diego at 65mph were flawless however temps were elevated with a peak of almost 240/260 (water/oil temp) … the hot desert side of the drive was mostly flat around 70mph and temps were nominal …

got about 17 MPG including a horrific 2hr traffic jam due to a closed freeway approaching San Diego.

I’m impressed but I can tell that thermally, the truck is on the edge …

Looks great! I just created a thread the other day on how towing an empty utility trailer in the Vegas desert made me realize I’ll have to kiss goodbye to either the JT or the idea of a decent sized TT around these parts.

Nahh, if you like your gladiator, keep it. The heat can be managed … there are also improvements to be made to help with heat. I plan on keeping my gladiator and living in the desert … I’m sure a tune, 4.56 gears and an auxiliary cooler would be helpful. But I was impressed I was able to maintain 70mph towing up a grade … I was expecting to hit derate and stayed in the right lane just in case, I’m not sure how hard the derate hits. But though I “felt” I was close to derate, I never detected a reduction in power …

the aftermarket really needs step up for these trucks cooling … I suspect with the limited production, we may not see much.
