Does the spare tire normally have a TPMS sensor, or is there any point to having one?

I ask because tonight I'm picking up a set of 2020 Mojave takeoffs to put on my 23 Sport. I know I'll have to replace the sensors with ones compatible with the 23, but the spare (I'm getting 5 wheels, but the spare is a steel rim) will probably never be used for more than a short run, so it seems silly to buy and install another sensor.

Ok, cool. Another question, do the alloy wheels use the same lug nuts as the steel wheels? I've had alloy wheels that did, and some that didn't.

Yes they are engineered to work on both( assuming you are talking about a steel wheel being the spare)

Your current spare should be the same steel wheel… although the Mojave steel rim I believe has a different offset. But none of the steel spares has tpms from the factory.

If you’re planning on doing a 5 tire rotation when you buy bigger tires and wheels, it makes sense to grab a tpms sensor for the spare. I have one in mine and in my wife’s JLU spare.

These are the bigger tires. :). Not doing a 5 tire rotation, the spare is a steel wheel.

2024 Gladiator Willys. If I add a full-size spare, with a Mopar TPMS, will the computer read all five or ONLY the four on the axles? The steel spare does not have a TPMS. Or do I have to swap TPMS every time I do a rotation using the full-size spare? Thanks!

I believe the TPMS only reads the tires in motion. The "spare" won't register unless it's mounted and rotating. I do a 5 tire rotation on my wife's JK and they all have sensors but which ever one is on the tailgate doesn't register.

The vehicle automatically senses the new tire positions when you drive.
