Seems MOPAR trail rail system is on back order. Was looking at HD rail system from rebel off road as the reviews seem solid.

My question is, is this worth it? I haven’t decided if I’m doing a rack or canopy/cap. Is there any disadvantage of getting the rail system? Wife is asking me for a Christmas idea and since I don’t want to put the burden off a several thousand dollar RTT and Rack/Canopy on her, I feel like this might be a good idea :)

Made my own using the L track. I drilled the track to fit the existing mount points in the bed and added my own rivnuts to give a bit more strength.

Recessed into the bedliner so they don't sit proud and hold the rail out -

What you have to watch, if an item asks if you have "Trail Rails" and you have an aftermarket version, your answer is usually going to be no.

Those items are designed with fasteners that fit in the OEM "Trail Rails" and those fasteners don't work on some (most?) aftermarket rails.

Yea this is my main concern. i was thinking of the HD rails and potentially an alu cab or rsi canopy.

FWIW, Teraflex claims theirs are compatible:

Do theirs require slight modification? Rebel Offroad Mentions theirs requires a very slight mod, removing and flipping c clip.

That Rebel link says “Uinta Tie downs require minor modification for proper fitment.”

The Uinta tie downs are made by Teraflex, so no they would not require modification to use with the Teraflex rails.

Based on that Rebel disclaimer, I would say the Rebel Offroad rails may not be compatible with some Mopar compatible accessories.

I second this. I purchased and installed the Teraflex version. Shortly thereafter, I purchased a bed rack from JCR Off-road and they had no idea if it would fit. They could only confirm the Mopar fitment.

Everything fit like a glove. And still slightly cheaper than the Mopar version. And nicer too!

I made my own using strut channel from Home Depot. $32 for the 10ft piece that is cut with an angle grinder and then had powder coated ($40). I did have to clean the bedliner out with an M6 tap but it was quick and easy. I was able to pick up 4x Nissan Frontier tie downs (4 for $85 which is cheap because they are freaking expensive at $50 each retail). So for roughly $150-160 I have my own trail rails. It really only took me about an hour to make them and my tonneau mounts that are designed to work on the Jeep trail rail worked just fine for this.
