Just would like to see what the majority consensus is on the subject of trail rash. I have a 2020 Rubicon and try keeping it as nice as possible. I have built it with the trails I do in mind, no lift but larger tires and lots of skid plates. The problem is the trail rash/ scratches that are unavoidable when off roading. I’m curious to hear how many just leave them as badges of honor or do you take the time to buff them out or pay someone to do it for you. I have had mine ceramic coated and buffed once a year since new but now at 6 years old and of course you can only buff so many times whether continuing with this regimen or just start living with the trail rash, curious on hearing from the group

I have a 2020 as well. I take good care of my vehicles. I do occasionally buff out pinstripes, but even when I go out to the "desert", I seem to be a magnet for brush. I've been lucky to avoid any dings or deep scratches. I'm curious if the ceramic coating helps avoid/reduce light scratches. I'm considering the ceramic treatment. The DIY stuff hasn't really worked for me.

If push comes to shove, you can always lineX it. I think rigs that are lineX look good, but I think I would do that only if I wanted to keep it beyond 10 yrs as by then it really wouldn't effect trade-in value.

The professional coating does help with the light scratches, after washing most seem to disappear but there are always the few that are to deep and need buffing

Having a black Gldiator means lots of pinstripes. For me they are a badge of honor. I knew I would be on tight trails pretty regularly so first week of ownership I took it to a very tight trail and just christened it with pinstripes. Never worried about it again. That said once a year in the spring I do a complete detail with more aggressive pads and product and a good sealant layer and many of the scars do come out. I still like a clean vehicle just don’t stress over the scratches as I bought it to wheel it.

If it isn't down to the primer then all is good. You could always put on magnetic signs to minimize the rash. A Jeep is a tool and will be used as such.

This. I got my 1st pinstripes on the way home from the dealer. Wife was pissed, but I figured get it out of the way and don't worry about it.

Yep it’s always the first ones that are the hardest to get over. after that the rest seem insignificant

Please, please no magnets  Kidding, use it if you feel you should.

But when wheeling your rig will get trashed, this is why I stopped wheeling, I got tired of breaks and seeing my new(ish) rigs destroyed. If I was rich, then I'd go at it, but nowadays its all about light off-roading without any branches that can scratch the heck out of my rig.

I switch from trails with sticks, briers and tree branches to mud.. cover up any imperfection even a dent 😜😅
Honestly I just wax and use my oscillating waxer buffer and what comes out comes out what stays stays . I probably will have to repaint . Mine will be 5 yrs old in Dec.

Just thought of this seen this guy with an older camper at a state park couple years ago. I says to the guy man oh man that thing is in impressive shape for an older camper. He says to me : well me and my brother in law wrapped it !!
I said seriously he said yep . The would inside was all sound so we washed it let it dry then wrapped it in white vinyl. Thing looked brand new.
Have you ever considered having your JT wrapped or maybe even having it sprayed with undercoating.
Which either method has highly crossed my mind.
