Id definitely make sure it goes on a frame rack and gets measured? They should be able to tell if anything is off when it's on a rack frame or alignment. Good luck
For sure, they have it on the initial estimate and I've asked them to relay the measurements from their scan.

I was blissfully ignorant of how to deal with this sort of thing up until this, so I was under the impression it was better to go through the at fault party’s insurance so it doesn’t affect my premiums, in addition to rental car expenses, plus a diminished value claim should they be able to repair.

I’ve done everything through their insurance up to this point, but with low state minimum liability limits (25k) I presume the window is still open for me to go that route if/when I come to it?
Can your insurance company and ask.

Just my two cents but if someone hit mine and flipped it, I’d be doing everything I can to get their insurance to pay out for the vehicle and pick up a new one. From a hit like that, you’re always going to find something else down the road that you can attribute to the crash. We just went through this with our family vehicle, got hit while stopped at a stop sign - it was clearly totaled with substantial body and suspension damage, but I was glad it was totaled, I wouldn’t want to be driving it in a few years and have suspension mounts they straightened or anything fail, because they’re going to fail at high speed or on the trail.

Best of luck with the resolution.

edit: sorry I misread, thought your truck flipped OP

Absolutely agree with Rob here. Your truck will never be the same. The force of it flipping over and having it not only bang on its side but also sitting there for however long until it was righted has caused micro fractures, and loosened bolts, seals, and whatever else.

Have you checked with other shops to get multiple opinions? Seems like this first shop might not know what they're doing.

I had a young driver slide into the back of my Gladiator a few weeks ago during a snow storm. I called the local Jeep dealer, and they had a shop where they referred all body work. The other driver's insurance was OK with that shop doing the work, and now it drives like new again. If you haven't already, might also be worth calling your local Jeep dealer to see who they recommend.

The OP's truck did not get flipped. The person who hit him, flipped their vehicle.

Here's what I would do, having been down this road before: File a claim with my own insurance and pay the deductible. Trying to fight the other party's insurance is a losing battle; they will delay, fight, argue, obfuscate, and eventually low-ball the offer and repair. You are not their customer and they have no interest in making you whole if they can help it; they just want your signature on the release of liability.

File with your insurance, let them fight this for you - that's why you pay your premium. They will pay for the truck to be fixed and subrogate the claim to the other insurance company. Once they get paid out from the other insurer, you will get your deductible back.
This is the way. I made the mistake of dealing with another insurance company on my own. As noted, they did everything in their power to be the biggest PITA to get me to go away. I can be very persistent when needed and it ultimately worked out okay but never again.

Oops, I completely misread. No caffeine for lent
That is alright. When I first read the thread title, I was expecting a story from the OP about somebody giving him the middle finger.

Just got a concerning call from the shop. They're apparently keeping the most recent estimate open to continue adding parts and repairs as needed. He said they don't want to keep issuing a bunch of new supplements for every little thing. He said he's going to start sending me his stuff that doesn't get uploaded to the insurance portal regularly. Anyways...

They've since decided to order me a new tire, right control arms, left shock, as well as new axle gears. I asked him about the shafts and/or other axle components and he says he wasn't sure as they had subbed it out to another shop. He said that once those parts are all sorted and installed, they'll then stick it on a frame machine for measurement and pulling if needed. On a previous call I had asked them how they dealt with the frame control arm perches and he said they can just cut them off and weld new ones on. In this latest call he said that because its HSS steel, they can't actually do that, and instead would just bend them back into place. This doesn't really sit right with me and I asked him what it meant for the strength of those perches and/or the frame if they get to bending. He assured me its totally fine, but I obviously have my doubts. Am I missing something?

What are the odds that letting my own insurance take over would be any help? I get they're incentivized to help their paying customer, but at the end of the day they're still in the game to make money and I don't see them running to my rescue with a new frame in hand. At this point I may be looking at letting them do what they do, try to get diminished value, and dumping the thing off as soon as possible with proper disclosures to the buyer.

Make them measure the frame before doing anything else, in my opinion. If it’s bent I’d be wanting it totaled with everything else going on. Bending those brackets back is insane. Don’t let them get away with that. Definitely call your insurance company.

I think changing things mid stream with the insurance will gack things up. The current shop will need to be paid out for what they have done before it moves to another shop and then the process starts all over. If you have a physical local insurance agent person, you may want to contact them and ask their opinion as they may have a different take of what to do.

I think your plan as quoted above has merit but unless you sell it private party, any dealer you trade it into will not pass anything off, especially if the carfax does not report it.
