Yes, and have been for decades. It used to be called "Madison Avenue" where the major marketing and advertising companies were - and their psychologists knew more about us than we knew, so the MA marketing firms could sell you what you don't even need, simply because some cool square-jawed guy with sunglasses and a 6:00 shadow of a beard looked cool using it.Are we that gullible about products being advertised today?
But on the vehicle commercials, if you are REALLY fast and have great vision, you can often see the disclaimer - professional driver, closed course and so on.
Some commercials used to show trucks pulling semis, trains and so on - meh, rolling load on the flat? Big deal (but I'd not want that truck after they used it for that - transmission or clutch time)
If you note some of the trails they are driving up to get to the top of the mountain - pretty flat and rockless other than the extreme grade. Heck, there's even bicycle races up Pike's Peak.
I've yet to see a vehicle in the commercial actually being on anything other than a decent path that even my mother's old Valiant could have made.
