I didn't even think about it until after I left. I was not considering the fact that the problem was not fixed. I may call and ask him to email me a copy of my receipt.
Good idea!

One other thing. Did you check the main ground cable? The one at the fender, not at the battery. That could cause some strange issues.

The weird issues I was having at 470 miles seemed to go away after I charged the battery to 100%. The current issues started when the weather got cold and have persisted ever since. He said the codes I'm getting are related to the PCM. The dealer checked my battery too and said it was fine. Just turned over 1500 miles and check engine light is burning bright. If I reset the code by disconnecting the battery, it comes back about 15 seconds after I cold start the engine. If I let the truck sit and idle for a minute or two, the engine RPM drops to 300-400 and the engine makes a grinding noise. It will continue to bounce between 300-400 RPM until I tap the gas. After a few seconds, it drops back to 300-400 RPM again. I'm not sure if it's related. I can't imagine that the dealer did much, since I was only there for 33 minutes total.

They should be testing the O2 sensor and harness. If the cel comes on right away and the engine isn't idling right when you start the engine, it should be easy to find something.

Yeah, I don't think they did anything. Here's a video I just made showing the idle. Turn sound up at about 45 seconds. I had to pump the gas several times to get the idle to come back up. I'm not sure if this is bad for the engine.

He emailed me the invoice and the TSB, which states:

"This bulletin involves reprogramming the PCM with the latest available software and possibly replacing one or more oxygen sensors."

I wonder why they didn't bother replacing the O2 sensor(s).

I think the 5.0 liter Tau V8 in the Equus (basically a Genesis) is a little higher quality than the little Sonata engine. Plus, Jeep would love to have Hyundai's JD Powers ratings for reliability.

"In the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, Hyundai ranked fourth overall, showcasing the brand’s excellence in producing dependable vehicles. This study measures the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles over a three-year period."
Yep. Genesis is higher end Hyundai. But neither have good resale value. Neither does Kia. But I’ll never forget that there was a recall for people that had issues with cylinder 3 failures, and they weren’t putting enough oil in the engines, because the dipstick was around an inch too long.

Perfectly normal. They run up past 1,000 rpms at startup and then calm down to around 600-700. Normal idle. At cold start, they increase rpms to circulate oil.

Because they were lazy.

Except that once it starts surging like that, I have to pump the accelerator to get it to come back up. I squealed my tires backing out of my garage because I pressed the gas and it went nowhere, then all of a sudden it surged to 2000 RPM. It nearly stalled at a red light. I have not had a car stall at a red light since 1989 when my Escort had a bad IAC valve.

If it’s stalling, it’s just another indication of the problem. Sorry I misunderstood. I saw the rpms drop, and that’s normal. But stalling of course isn’t.

Well, after resetting the CEL on Monday night, it came back 15 seconds after I started the vehicle the next day. I scheduled an appointment at Stan McNabb CDJR for Thursday morning. I arrived today at 7:00 AM and told him what was going on. He scanned the vehicle and said there was a PCM update that would fix it. I waited around, and about 20 minutes later, the vehicle was done. No paperwork, just a handshake. I pulled it out the service bay, and the CEL came back on before I left the parking lot. I called the service advisor, and he said that I should bring it back next Tuesday. I'm so disappointed with Jeep right now. The last 5 cars I have owned have been used vehicles, and none of them have had any check engine lights. I don't know what I'm more upset with...the poor quality of the vehicle or getting jerked off by the dealer. @JeepCares

Thank you. I called 1-877-426-5337 and spoke to someone who said she could not help me unless my vehicle was actually in the possession of the dealer and that I should call back on Tuesday after I drop off my vehicle. I will message you if I have any issues after Tuesday.

What does this even mean? I had an appointment yesterday at 7:00 AM. I took it and they did nothing. The CEL can back on in the parking lot. Now I have to take it a second time. Your parents must be so proud.
