Today I got a message on my 2024 Rubicon-X screen asking me to apply a Uconnect Box Update, which the system said would take 5 minutes. It took maybe 4 1/2 minutes. No info or details what was in it. I did not see anything that changed. The search AI suggested it might be an update to the communications box itself, which receives all the OTA updates. I also found this in the JL Wrangler sister forum. (27) Uconnect Box Update | Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) -- Rubicon, 4xe, 392, Sahara, Sport - JLwranglerforums.com

All my Tail Logs, Adventure Guides, and Off Road Pages were still there after the update. It did not fix the -37 ft below sea level on the Off Road Pages altitude. I cannot tell what it did, which I guess is a good thing. I hope it isn't an update to give me more ads.

Found another link that says the Uconnect Box is a telematics box separate from the radio that receives its own updates.

They rarely announce the updates or what they are for. I received one OTA update for my 2020 that was a recall fix for the camera view. There were not many updates for MY 2023 and older. I expect to see more of them for MY 2024 and beyond.

Curious….Yesterday we had just pulled into the garage, I opened the door and stepped out….. the screen was white with some sort of ā€˜Update’ window. I didn’t pay much attention to it other than ā€˜update’. I hit ’Update Now’ and shut the door and went inside.

Does the update continue downloading somehow even though the truck is OFF, & my phone is not connected to it……?
My garage has WIFI….. I wasn’t sure if it’d use the WIFI and/or if I remember ever typing in the password for it.

Doesn’t UConnect have its own private ā€˜cell’ connection for this type of thing?

UConnect communication with Stellantis is over the cellular connection in the head unit. The cellular connection can be used to provide a WiFi hotspot in the truck (at an additional monthly cost), but the head unit is not exposed to the internet through the connection, and does not connect to WiFi or to the internet through your phone.

Yes, there is an option in Uconnect 5 to connect it to your home Wi-Fi and you can tell it to use that connection for software updates.

I initially did what @Janster did. My experience was that I accepted the update, and the top of the screen said "updating". I turned off the engine and went in the house. Unit was connected to home WIFI at that point.

I came out later to see if the update was done and no messages displayed and the "updating" at the top of the screen was gone. It presented the update white screen again after I turned the ignition off and opened the door. So I accepted it again and turned the ignition on "RUN" while it was "updating". This time I stayed with it. The Update finished in just under 5 minutes. So this one does not appear to be an update that you can accept, and then turn off the ignition.

This update appears to be just for the telematics box. I compared screen shots of Nav and System updates I took with my phone after the 33.43 system update a few weeks ago, and the screens were identical. In going through stuff, nothing visual seems to be impacted. Nor was the issue of my off road pages showing altitude as negative fixed - we are about a 48 foot elevation above sea level according to topographic maps of my property.

Thank You!! That’s exactly what I was wondering….. I’ll have to get back in the jeep and hope it prompts me with the screen again and take drive.

The dealership is trying to tell me I have no satellite reception at my home. Whatever. It was fine before I took a road trip a while back and now it is 80 to 160 feet negative.

EDIT: It will probably take a number of people complaining before Jeep finds and resolves the issue.

Okay, so I can’t find how or if there is a way to calibrate or reset the Compass. I am not sure if the Compass really has anything to do with the altimeter.
I took a trip today of about 130 miles. My altimeter would be reading fine as I’m driving along on the freeway. Then a minute or so later it’s suddenly 50 to 100 feet different. I was driving with the ocean in view so I could guess altitude. I am not an expert on UConnect at all.
All other systems and pages seem to be working fine. The only problem seems to be the altimeter at the bottom of Off-road Pages.
