Hey, I was just crawling around a little under my Gldi for the first time, when I noticed the slicks.

Any of y’all know what it is, what it means?

Not sure what you’re asking for. Can you be more specific?
The two rubber plugs where the engine/transmission mate are oily.
There are obvious signs this leak has been there a while. Discolored, oily grime build up on surrounding parts that have been wiped off.

As Janster says, appears to be a rear main seal leaking.

So I got this used Easter weekend, should I take it back to the dealership? Although I have little faith in their service department.
Is this an expensive problem?
Could this be why my trans has been shifting a bit rough lately?

You can, if the mileage is low enough it's still covered under drive train warranty.

It really depends what is leaking as to whether it's the reason for your transmission issues.

Maybe I'll try a different dealership. I also just called a local mechanic shop to see if I could get in for an assessment.

Thank you

Could be a few things. Those are inspection grommets and will pick up whatever is flowing down. I followed my leak up the side of the trans and found the rear main seal leaking at 7500 miles. Replaced under warranty, hope yours is too, if not will be a pretty penny in labor.

I do hope it's still under warranty, it's supposed to be a "certified" vehicle. I looked at my paperwork today from the dealership when I bought it, it said warranty, but I couldn't find any info about how long, or how many miles.
When I bought it, there were 21K miles, it now has almost 31K miles. I put almost 10k miles on it in 2 months.

Your external oil cooler is cracked , a very common problem, it sets on top of the engine between the heads.
Easy fix for you dealer it is warranted to 60,000 miles.

agreed, this seems like a likely cause … I had an issue with the plastic housing cracking on the oil cooler and it looked very similar, what a mess.
