Undercoating?

For those in MN that don't want to do it themselves, I can't recommend Ultimate Undercoating in Monticello enough. He did my Tacoma and it was excellent, and I'll be bringing him my JT. Only reason I haven't brought him my JT yet is I still have some work to get done under it before I have it coated.

This is my 1968 F350, coated with old engine oil every year since 1974 when my grandpa bought it.

Anything oil based works, including actual oil. I use woolwax on the wifes Gladiator because it smells nicer.

All of my vehicles see all of the snow and salt.

Not to sound totally off base here, but originally being from New Jersey, I do recall growing up when undercoating was a big deal on cars. Even the dealers offered it before you drove the car off the lot. Always commercials on the TV about undercoating, I remember Ziebart was very visible at that time.

Then, supposedly because different metals were used in making the cars, the places seemed to disappear. I had not heard of undercoating in many. many years until I am reading about it here (yes, I have been in South Florida for 35 years so undercoating here is not something used here). But I still stopped hearing about it even while in NJ.

But I guess, from what I am reading here, that it still exists.

I have to bite my tongue on Ziebart undercoating. Long term worst than not doing anything other than not washing undercarriage. I was stupid having it done on my Comanche, it was a add on when I ordered it. What it really did do was seal everything inside to rustout. Rocker on passenger side, floor pans ect. My current ongoing project is replacing sheet metal in it. The Midwest winters and Europe winters definitely accelerated it. The "salts" used on German roads isn't nice, likely worse than any used in USA.
A method I was told by someone who lived in N.H. he's choice was detailed undercarriage cleaning then coated warmed up with chainsaw bar oil every fall.
