What is the best treatment for rust on the undercarriage (rubbarized, fluid lubricant, rustoleum paint, ...)? Rust developing near swing arm and near wheel.
Best approach I've seen is some POR15 painted into the gaps and corners were the frame is assembled and then Krown every winter. Had a friend who put his truck through multiple Pittsburgh winters without a speck of rust underneath.
Hands down a coating like POR15 or CR, then applying a wax-based on top, like fluid fil before every winter. It is probably a bit more work but you are guaranteed ZERO rust.
Also as a side note, in this realm, Youtube is your friend. There are a few great channels out there running long-term tests on different undercoatings and their performance.
Amsoil Metal Protector HD (dries like candlewax on clean surfaces and will not rinse off) for a new clean vehicle. Fluid Film or Wool Wax spray after that. Fluid Film and wool wax spray work great but never dry, can rinse off over time and attract dirt/dust. Good part is you can always just spray more on after a quick rinse with the hose to get the bulk of the dirt off.
NEVER on any rubberized undercoating/bedliner. One tiny crack could let moisture in and will allow rust to fester under the surface long before you even notice,
On my new 2021 I plan to throw on another coat of enamel spray paint and wait until fall an do Fluid film. The factory frame paint barely covers the corners so I thought I could add a little more chip protection while keeping in mind that fluid film will soften rubberized paints, hence enamel.
