I'd have dumped some air pressure for sure. (Actually, I've never been in that tub. Don't have plans to have a rig that I'd take in there either)
I did one of the larger tubs in my old Xterra with stock gears. The Gladiator should be able to handle that one just fine and it's plenty fun.

I had to chuckle to myself as I watched the clip again: I always tell my wife when we go out wheeling that she needs to wear proper shoes. I always tell her, especially when we are out crawling the Wranglers and less so when we are camping/overlanding in the Gladiator, that we need to be prepared to walk out; so, having proper shoes, daypacks, water bottles, etc.

Seeing the “bros” send it wearing flip flops makes me not feel so bad for them.
LOL...the alternative, which isn't 100% is to spend another $20k not including a new set of 8-lug wheels...LOL

I saw that but wasn't sure if it was from the bouncing. That's why I threw in the " wasn't obvious " disclaimer.
From what I've seen, bouncing will more likely break a U-Joint or inner axle. I suspect this was what happens when you bounce a lot and forget to do preventative maintenance and tighten your sheet up!!!

opps, i would bet 5 bucks the ball joint pulled out and then the aluminum knuckle snapped.
Broken u-joint, then ball joints popped out. The knuckle stayed in tact. You can tell that it’s still attached to the tie rod. I’ve done a similar thing to mine, although I was not giving it a bunch of gas. I was just bound up on an undercut rock. The ball joints really aren’t held into the axle very tightly. If doing hard crawling, c-clip ball joints are in order.

... I 2nd the above statement. U-joint popped and then proceeded to un-install his ball joints. Yes, a nuance of the current JL and JT, but IMO total driver error.

.... Trail Mater loves to recover stupid!

I’ll own mine. I continued to try to drive it after breaking the u-joint. That’s when it pressed the ball joints out. Won’t do that again. I gained the experience of ball joint replacement on the trail though, so that’s positive.

Depends on the person. I pretty much only wear flip flops and cover a lot of ground in them. I forgot my hunting boots for a 3D archery weekend a couple years ago. Ended up doing 22 miles and 6,000 feet of elevation over two days in my flip flops. Wasn't bad ?
LOL, I bet you were hating that!!

Nah, I get it. I've been to Moab and I realize that at any given time you probably won't have to walk out of the popular trails in the season. But that doesn't mean I would be begging for it. It doesn't sound like it was your "plan" to go out for the archery event and do it in flip flops. Heck, even when I'm backpacking, I carry a pair of lightweight Olukai's to wear at camp while my feet "rest".

If you’ve been in that hot tub you’ve got more experience with it then probably most of us here.
this is the first time I’ve seen that hole so I’m analyzing the thing by looking at the videos.
I can see among other things that the wheel spin is pushing the front to the right and into that bump at the top right and causing uneven tire contact which makes it harder to get out.
We’re only seeing the part Of the video with the equipment failure but it wouldn’t surprise me if that driver had made a few attempts and realized he had to get a certain amount of momentum to make it all the way up. Unfortunately the momentum put too much pressure on the ball joint and it gave way.
I’m new to 4x4 off road and rock crawling but I’m learning to read the lines and find a good path while having a lot of toe curling fun in the process. ??

I'm another flip flop guy, i usually work on my vehicles in them too. The only thing that's stopped me from wearing them offroading out here is the cacti
