As many of you have seen, I usually purchase a Sport S and upgrade from there.

Oftentimes I pick up parts from Rubicon's.

I keep seeing the take off suspension kits.

Set usually includes front and rear shocks, springs, sway bar links, and two front lower control arms and isolators. - All for $500+/-

There is some redundancy in those sets (as in the same on the Sport S)...but the rear shocks and springs could be worth it.

Anyone already done this swap and can tell why I should pull the trigger?

Thanks

I cannot comment on the JT as I have a Rubicon out the gate, but I have done this with both my JK's and JL in the past and liked it. I felt it gave a easy and cheap 1.5" lift and with actual OEM parts, was less likely to be an issue in the rare event if I took it into the dealer for other warranty work and they could not point to a obvious aftermarket suspension mod and blame whatever issue on it.

I will check it out. 1.5" would be a huge lift....at a great price!

I swapped in a 1 week old Ruby complete suspension on my Max Tow...
You need to be patient and shop around, $500 is way too much for the take offs.
I found a GREAT guy that was upgrading to the Mopar 2" and I helped him clean out his garage.

You can get better shocks and a little more lift for $1,175 going with the Mopar 2" lift .

Should also note, the sway links, control arms and isolators are the same on the Max Tow (and probably the regular Sport) and Stock Rubicon. I measured and checked the stock numbers.

These change with the 2" lift..

That is what I was wondering. I have the max tow package...so only spring and shocks would be different.

Yup... I also added a 3/4 spacer to the front to level it out since I was changing everything...
It raised the Jeep about an 1" in the back and 1 3/4 front. MUCH BETTER...

No big difference in the ride, but the Fox shocks feel great..

The seller even gave me the Wooden Box.. I told him not necessary, but he wasn't interested in keeping it due to space.

There are so many people going to the 2" lift, there should be more take offs available.

I was looking for rock rails and couldn't find any anywhere in the Colorado area. *Jeep country for sure.

I was able to get a set from an awesome member on this Forum..

Now they are popping up left and right in the area.

Good luck with your hunting...

So with the rubi take offs you gained an inch all around, then added the extra 3/4” on the front? What size tires are you running? I got a great deal on some rubi shocks/springs from back home, had a family member pick them up for me and will Get them on my next visit home. We moved our 33’s over the our JT sport and trying to figure out if I can go to 35’s or up to only 34’s or just hang tight with the 33’s. I appreciate your input!

Nice score on the wooden box! There are more and more Rubicon take-off suspensions every day! Price is coming down even more.

I scored some Rock Rails for $100 (a steal!).

I’m in Savannah. You can have mine for what it cost me to get an adjustable steering stabilizer. 350. No box though.

You can easily go 35" with the Rubi suspension..

If you take out that ridiculous piece of plastic between the Bumper and front fenders, 37" no problem.
I'm on 315 75 17 now..

$100 to $150 seems to the going price now for JT rock rails.

Anything over $250 for the stock Rubi shocks and springs is on the high side.

The JL guys are still trying to get up to $500 for their suspension take offs.... Most don't sell..

The best one I have seen so far is $1,200 for stock Gladiator Sport Wheels and Tires on Craigslist...
What made it even better was there were/are 3 other sets for sell ranging from $250 to their $1,200...

None of these have sold out here.. I'm hanging on to mine for a rainy day.. Power coating the stock wheels black actually makes for a fairly decent set of wheels with 33" tires..

I am going to keep my eyes open for some shocks and springs for the $250 range. There are more and more available every day...so just a matter of time.
