I asked a couple dealerships to recalibrate for my slight upsized tires and they said we don’t do that. These dealerships are in Calgary.
When I first put 35s on my old JT, I called and asked the dealer to recalibrate. The girl that answered in the service department told me “we can’t do that, but all of us here use super chips - flashcal”. Being new to Jeep, I thought what great service department. Yeah ?Bertera Jeep of West Springfield.
So I bought it and changed the tire size. A couple years later I bought it in for warranty work and the dickhead manager told me how great he was for not voiding my warranty due to the programer. I ended up having a few other experiences with that service department before I wrote off ever doing business with Bertera Auto Group again.

Buy the cable and BT adapter and JSCAN. You can then switch tire sizes any time you need, among other things. It would be cheaper than the dealer, and most other options.

Check your state law. I know by law in Colorado, they have to have a price quote with your signature before any work begins and there is a limit on how much the final price can differ without them getting another signature from you for the higher price.

What's that got to do with a dealer charging for tire size recalibration?
It's something dealers can and do often charge for.
If you change tire size, you need to have the truck "programmed" with the new tire size - that's not usually included in the purchase price of tires.

this is a very old thread brought back to life by a new question, so this is what we are actually responding to -

Is there anyone from Maryland that would be willing to assist in changing my tire size? That's all I need done but am not knowledgable enough to be messing around with any of these things (Tazer / JSCAN, etc.) nor do I want to take on accessing under my steering wheel. I am an embarrassment to Jeep owners .....

What it has to do with it, is that the original post implied they sprung it on him after the fact. Legally, in Colorado they have to inform the customer up front.

I have a 2023 Gladiator. I recently went from a 245/70R17 to a 255/80r17. I asked my dealer about having the new tire size updated, and the service guy had no clue how to start the process, or who to ask. Still waiting for a response from them. Does one tire size make a huge difference? Should I just go to a different dealership?

That size isn't anything super special per say. That service writer is just clueless or the dealer just hasn't delt with that specific service request much. If you don't get good responses back. Maybe its worth your energy and time to do it your self or find another dealer or aftermarket shop.

If you are not very comfortable using the other tools you should look at ECRI. It is probably the easiest one to use. You plug it into the OBDII port and then connect it to your phone to drive on the highway and it tells you the actual tire size and then you just hit calibrate and it sets the tire size and then you unplug it.

ECRI bandwagon here. Simply plug in,app on phone, select gps and drive. Interesting to watch tire size change as you drive. Mine was spot on with dash cam gps.
