I just had the same decision and got a 21 JTRD with 20k miles for 51k with a bunch of add ons included.
Yeah... I like buying new and knowing the whole history on a car but 12k is a lotta dough, and its already lifted on 35s. So its more like 17-20k.

But traffic is so incredibly bad these days anything I can throw money at to make my life easier is worth it.
Once you go ACC around here you never go back. I've had 6-7 cars with it at this point. It also makes long hauls quite a bit less work. Just left lane and relax.
Not to be a a dick, but based on my observations, drivers tuned out in the left (aka passing) lane is likely a reason traffic is so incredibly bad these days. Perhaps doing your relaxing in the right most lane and engaging your brain instead of ACC would yield better results for all involved.

Wrong. It's already been proven things like adaptive cruise control and driver assists make for safer roads. Every time I mention ACC in any thread I get the "ain't no damn 'puter gonna drive mah car!" response when it is fact, not opinion, that computers and assists make the roads safer.

Yes I’m slightly ashamed to admit I’ve had both a 3.6 JT and a diesel JL already with acc. It’s way too aggressive on the accelerations but the diesel lag calms it down a bit. What I found is if you put it in manual mode and force it to a gear it calms it down even more. On the flip side I have a rivian right now that is so lax about accelerating and leaving a gap that I get constantly cut off.
I can understand the diesel calming it down a bit. I had a Ram Ecodiesel, but not with ACC. For me the only time ACC is useful is when traffic is moving at an even pace and you are locked into staying in one lane, such as a two lane country road or a freeway necked down to one lane for construction. I'll have to try putting it in manual next time and see how that works.

Hold onto anything that doesn't have automatic braking. The technology is terrible and anyone I've spoken to with it has either gotten into an accident because of it or gotten awfully close. Imagine having to deal with ESS and automatic braking?
This. Awful. Almost got into several accidents due to that stupid thing. My 392 seems quite a bit better than my ‘19 was when I first tested it so perhaps it’s improving. I do like the ACC functionality for longer trips though.

Man... I just drove from PA to NM and back. OK has signs saying it is a "State Law, Drive in Right Lane Unless Passing". Texas people move over if you are behind them. Traffic flows smoothly. Other states people cruising in the left lane with a long line of vehicles behind them. They are mobile road blocks, some intentionally slow down so you can't pass them or the vehicle in the right lane.

The problem with a computer driven car is that the computer cannot adapt to every different type of personal driving habit (human nature). If 100% of vehicles were computer driven it would not be an issue. But not everyone wants a 100% computer driven car. I got rid of my 2018 Toyota 4Runner Pro because it had too much computer control and it is getting more difficult to bypass it.

And it has been proven when people actually pay attention to the road conditions and are actively driving, the roads are much safer too.

They don’t and won’t. Too much tick toking to do to bother paying attention to the roads. Not to mention how distracting car interiors have gotten.

Yes, most likely the blocking vehicle will be a Subaru.

Have you used the ACC on a Gladiator? I have a 2023 3.6L JTR with ACC and the ACC drives me crazy in Los Angeles stop and go traffic. I find it's either accelerating too fast or breaking too hard to keep up with the car in front of me. It seems worse in this respect than my wife's 2017 Grand Cherokee. Maybe your experience is with a different vehicle with different control loop settings that make it relaxing?
I have a 21 with ACC and love it. That said, I don’t use it in stop and go traffic. It’s really designed as a pacer for hwy driving, which I do a lot of in regional business trips. I also significantly increase my MPG using it behind semis….

I also had a 19 Cherokee Trailhawk which handled almost identically. In stop and go traffic it’s ok, but not perfect. It is designed to error on the side of caution so in stop and go it is slower to go and faster to stop. With the impatient line cutters that are willing to get in an accident to save 13 seconds, even if it worked great I’d still want 100% control of the skinny and fat pedal…. So, hwy driving yes all day long! City or traffic jam, wouldn’t recommend.

Good call. I ended up going with the 21 and it does need that recall done, parts not available yet though.

Make sure to run some lubrication additive, it's about 10k to repair a blown CP4

I have a 21 Diesel that didn't fall into CP4 recall as of yet. It also had the suspension bottoming out but they got the fix on and rode like a dream. No issues though, has been great around town and on highway so seems like way too much money for no gain.
