Congrats on the Mojave! That thing will get you about any place you'll ever want to go, and with a very smooth ride. I've seen many of them geared up for overlanding and getting deep into the trails. Good choice.

I've had great luck buying and selling take-off parts on this forum. Keep your eye out for a factory steel front bumper. You might find a good deal from someone who's swinging for the fences with an aftermarket setup.

First impression with the dashcam. Works as expected... not sure I can say much else, lol... it is a dashcam...

Now, the Oracle Lighting rear/reverse lights... wow, that was worth it...

And, on other news, sister-in-law sent me a gift... 1"x30' HD kinetic rope / recovery tow strap... In orange!

Second hand Bestop Sunrider… but in like-new condition and at a fair price…

You can't see them... but the hard tops removed are in the backseat... I installed it right there with the help of the seller. A plastic clip, two spacers and 6 bolts... that was it. Did not know it was that easy to install...

All I need to do is give it a wash as it was a bit dusty as you can see in the photo.

Finally connected the Midland MXT275

After the install I found a video where the install a small plate on that crossmember under the cover... I would have preferred to do that... oh well... maybe I will change it later.

The benefit is the ability to remove the cover and not have to deal with the MXT275.... so I will make that plate.

I also want to hardwire the power... when I get to changing the plate (mount location) I will tackle that as well.

For now, it works.

I will follow what @Pbjeep did. I just ordered the Go-Rhino XRS Cross Bars - Bed Rail Kit for Full/Mid Sized Trucks W/Tonneau Cover T-Tracks and side rail accessory kit.

XRS setup arrived and now installed... some cutting to size was needed...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9752

Sides bars cut to 40" including the end plates that the bars come with...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9753

Crossbars cut to 58", again, including the end plates on the bars...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9754

The crossbars stick out 3" on each side from the top of the base... but do not extend beyond the width of the bed...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9757

This task is done!

Wanted to change the oil earlier, but closed and opened my eyes and it already has 2100 miles...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9806

Used this as it meets specifications from Chrysler...

Next oil change is done by the dealer as part of the deal... at 5,000 miles.

After that, I started looking at how to install the fuel RotopaX... I know, I know... my previous truck was a diesel... I will get red ones ;)

I will need to make a spacer and bracket where I can install the Rotopax mount offset... tank will hang a little on the side of the bed to clear the tent... I just need to order the quick release tent mounts from Go-Rhino to figure out how much of an offset I will need...

Great job getting your truck set up like you want it. I just bought my first Jeep back in September. I’m planning on getting a diamondback se bed cover next. Maybe in about 6 weeks.

Updating the list of future mods:

1. A tent to place over the rack. Would love to have the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini...I like the ease of use and footprint (to fit on the bed rack) but the price is holding me back... might need to look for something less expensive. In the meantime, I am using all my motorcycle camping gear... old school is fine for now.
2. Install kitchen and cooler setup that will carry over from my previous truck
3. Additional LED lights. For example, for the hood lights: Rigid SR 20 midnight edition in the 6 inch with Go-Rhino 730060T mounts.
4. Proper recovery gear
5. Ordered the N-Fab (RKR) rock rails, to go with the four N-Fab steps that I already have...
6. Mopar front facing camera
7. Mopar Auxiliary switches - I like the factory look
8. 35" pizza cutter tires... Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T T255 /85 R17 121Q E1 BSW
9. Rock Hard front and rear lower control arm and rear shock skid plates
10. Skid plate for oil pan and transmission. Still looking for options.
11. If I need one... looking at a half-roof rack from EVO Manufacturing.
12. Mopar high output (850 watts) fan - Bought it. I just need to see when I do the install. Looks like a few things need to be removed to be able to do this swap...
13. Turn signals on the side mirrors with a puddle light as well...
14. XRS Rhino Quick Release Tent Brackets - for whatever tent I end up with...

Can the hood lifts be very quickly disconnected? I open the hood to the windshield a lot for more room.

Short answer, yes.

But they say that a photo is worth...

Open hood... place old fashion rod in place...

Look at the strut... see the redish tab? Currently in locked position...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9854

Push to slide down the tab...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9855

Pop out the strut... easy...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9856

I hope that helps answering your question.đź‘Ť

As mentioned elsewhere, I have four N-Fab steps…my initial plan was to fabricate a mount for them that would fit the stock rails…

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread 1DCF6C5D-7D2A-49EC-BFB7-3E42767ACE01

Instead, I have decided not to fabricate anything to adapt the N-Fab steps to the factory rock rails... I went ahead and ordered the N-Fab (RKR) rock rails.

Ordered the aluminum knock-off Rubicon bumper as well...

Bumper arrived... will post more photos when I get it all out of the box...

First thing I checked were the plastic covers as many have received them cracked... I was not the exception :(

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9958

More when I get it all out and unwrapped...

Jeep Gladiator Wachuko's Mojave Build Thread IMG_9956

Also received a second-hand 850 watt fan...
