I dont really know what the quadratec winch warranty would actually turn out to be if something went bad there but they do say "limited lifetime on parts and 1 yr on electrical components".I guess what I'm getting at is, what if something in the geartrain breaks, or you lose a solenoid in your control box? (That has happened to me.) What kind of warrenty comes with the winch? Who would you go to for parts? At least with Warn, I have a reliable source for parts. I promise you, something in a winch will eventually break. I've had Ramseys, Smittybuilts. (This is my first Warn, and it's a Chinese Warn at that, and at a reasonable price...actually cheaper than a Badlands.) I really don't mind if I have a wireless winch controller or not. And I, too, have no need to spend $1500-2500 for a winch because I will never use it enough to justify the cost. But I will spend $550 (with rebate) for a Warn simply because I can get parts for it. And the warranty ain't too shabby, either. Hell, I bought mine before I even knew there was a rebate for the controller. Happy Jeepin'![]()
But Superwinch does list a full parts catalogue - so you could basically build one from scratch if you wanted, looks like everything is available. Their SX10KSR (which I have) is listed to have a lifetime mechanical and 7 year warranty. Now that's pretty darn good if I don't say so myself considering it was under 700 bucks! Superwinch parent company is more on the industrial side and has been around for quite a long time. And I did call them to ask a bunch of questions before purchasing the one I have, and they were much easier to get to and sounded more willing to talk than my phone convo with Warn went. Maybe I just got someone on a bad day who knows....I mean we all have them so not really just to judge based on one phone call.
Considering Warn knows they have massive failures yet won't 'make it right' I would expect they would also try and find a way to void any warranty they do proclaim. Just my .02... It's a shame since they have held the name in industry for a very long time, but this whole EVO series debacle has, in my mine, made them drop pretty darn far on the totem pole for 'quality' parts and a 'stand-up' reputation. Then again, who knows maybe their profit margin on that series of winch is so terrible that they can't afford to re-issue new and properly made wireless receivers. But the solution that was devised IMO is terrible. Not to mention their next step up takes a huge price hike to over $2,000.
