I guess what I'm getting at is, what if something in the geartrain breaks, or you lose a solenoid in your control box? (That has happened to me.) What kind of warrenty comes with the winch? Who would you go to for parts? At least with Warn, I have a reliable source for parts. I promise you, something in a winch will eventually break. I've had Ramseys, Smittybuilts. (This is my first Warn, and it's a Chinese Warn at that, and at a reasonable price...actually cheaper than a Badlands.) I really don't mind if I have a wireless winch controller or not. And I, too, have no need to spend $1500-2500 for a winch because I will never use it enough to justify the cost. But I will spend $550 (with rebate) for a Warn simply because I can get parts for it. And the warranty ain't too shabby, either. Hell, I bought mine before I even knew there was a rebate for the controller. Happy Jeepin' :jk:
I dont really know what the quadratec winch warranty would actually turn out to be if something went bad there but they do say "limited lifetime on parts and 1 yr on electrical components".

But Superwinch does list a full parts catalogue - so you could basically build one from scratch if you wanted, looks like everything is available. Their SX10KSR (which I have) is listed to have a lifetime mechanical and 7 year warranty. Now that's pretty darn good if I don't say so myself considering it was under 700 bucks! Superwinch parent company is more on the industrial side and has been around for quite a long time. And I did call them to ask a bunch of questions before purchasing the one I have, and they were much easier to get to and sounded more willing to talk than my phone convo with Warn went. Maybe I just got someone on a bad day who knows....I mean we all have them so not really just to judge based on one phone call.

Considering Warn knows they have massive failures yet won't 'make it right' I would expect they would also try and find a way to void any warranty they do proclaim. Just my .02... It's a shame since they have held the name in industry for a very long time, but this whole EVO series debacle has, in my mine, made them drop pretty darn far on the totem pole for 'quality' parts and a 'stand-up' reputation. Then again, who knows maybe their profit margin on that series of winch is so terrible that they can't afford to re-issue new and properly made wireless receivers. But the solution that was devised IMO is terrible. Not to mention their next step up takes a huge price hike to over $2,000.

Don't get me wrong. Superwinch has been a very well respected brand for years, and rightly so. They've been around since 1970. I've had one on my 4 wheeler for over 20 years and have never had a problem with it! And I wouldn't hesitate to use one today. They have a long history of quality and support. I'm talking about some of these brands that are here today, gone tomorrow. Brands I can't even pronounce. I'm not a Warn snob by any means. They were not even on my list until I saw a deal I couldn't resist. Trust me, if I had found a deal on a Superwinch, I would have scarfed it up! Just didn't happen when I was looking.

And Warn does owe us one. They're not off the hook, by any means. What they've done with these "wireless controllers" is a crappy deal. I have no use for a wireless, so I don't really care. But it is still bull$h!t. Hopefully, they will make it right.

Did I make a mistake? I just ordered an Evo 10S from Northridge. I thought I was getting a killer deal at $685 with taxes but Warn has a $100 rebate bringing it down to $585 or about the same price of the Apex but with 7 year warranty.

Make a mistake how? Its a good price on a solid winch, with the only hiccup being the wireless controller, which if you disable they give you another $100 back.

I read more on the winch after I ordered it and saw the complaints above and others saying quality has gone down because it is made in China. I thought I made a mistake. Although I prefer made in America, the prices for such are almost four times the ones made in China. Chine does make quality products, for example my iPhone. If it is a wireless feature that is the issue, I can easily live with that. I hace an older HF winch on my YJ and it is as analog as it can get. Wireless is cool but not essential to me.

The one on the left is the corded replacement remote. The one on the right was the original corded remote. I understood that you still needed a wireless module to plug into the winch to make the wireless magic happen. I never had the wireless receiver and really can't complain too much. It is just taking a long time.

I did get some feedback today from Warn. It seems that I have 3 cases open. The first was rejected for missing some information. I was never told of this. When I resubmitted the form it was sent twice (sequential web ID numbers). That stalled my request due to the confusion of two forms. I thought that was cleared up via email and that I only received 1 remote. Both open web ID's show the coupons ( check) are pending. 8-10 weeks from approval date.

I just want to follow-up with my post. I did receive an email from Warn regarding the coupon. The email had a few links in the email, but I never clicked on them. That email was deleted in the middle of August. I waited another month and sent another follow-up email regarding the coupon. I decided that I should save the emails from Warn and pulled them out of the trash. I looked at the older emails again and clicked on the link. It was the coupon code. Now I feel bad. I apologized to Warn in another email asking them to disregard my previous email as I had errored.

This was a long process, even if I had the coupon back in August.

Already submitted. My initial comment was more of a concern after reading that some people were not happy. Unfounded of course. Seems to be a solid winch. Thanks for the reply NR.

They are a solid winch, we don't see many of them come back.

NOTE: The $100 coupon will ALMOST cover the full price (+shipping) of their Bluetooth remote.

I think I had to pay like $2 to cover what was left.

So far, the BT and app seem to be Ok... I (like many) am still annoyed that we paid a premium for a wireless winch, and instead got a recalled wireless function, that they're making no apparent effort to fix.

I won't assume to speak for everyone, but while the winch has been stellar, I've been contemplating replacing it with a Badlands, that HAS wireless capabilities. Seems kind ridiculous that the 'inexpensive' Badlands has it, now, and the 'Premium' brand doesn't.

Oh well, that mini-rant is over and done, now ;)

Why have Bluetooth dongle on a 10 foot cord? Much better to plug the dongle to the winch and leave the cord off.

So I FINALLY got my rebate after almost 6 months and after I had to email them twice to ask. The stupid bluetooth dongle plugs into the corded port, so you can't just leave it in. Warn also still has the service kit for sale https://www.warn.com/vr-evo-remote-and-service-kit-109470 which includes this description " Includes wired remote and wireless module to allow for both plug-in and wireless capability. " This is a joke. I should have sent this back when I got it and the sticker said the wireless remote had been removed and moved to the Zeon. Warn needs to fix this, but I doubt they will. I will either be taking this apart and hard wiring the bluetooth module in or I will retrofit a different remote. Looking for pics or video of the inside of the control pack.

Found a video and it will be super easy. I expected the secondary control wiring to be potted and covered, but they are just exposed spade connectors. Mine is still all in box. I am on the hunt now for a wireless remote/receiver combo that is waterproof, maybe from another winch.
