Hi all,

recently installed a Warn winch into my jtrd factory steel bumper. And it was miserable. I used the warn company winch mounting kit. And it almost felt like I was sent the wrong mounting kit. It fit, sort of.
7 hrs later, I got most everything bolted into place and I can’t get the back bolts of my front skid plate to line up. Anybody else have this issue?
I go to put the front trim piece to fill in the holes, and the mounting holes on the bumper are blocked by the winch mounting plate, I had to cut 3 of the plastic tabs off to get it to fit, only using the top two. anybody else have this issue?

Winch got scratched up trying to get it to fit, I blame that on my purchases of the Zeon 10 instead of the 8.
Oh I also have this whole big metal piece extra that the directions don’t reference at all, please see pic below. Anybody know where I was suppose to put this?

Also I’d highly suggest not following the directions and put the fairlead on before installing the winch. Looking like I might have to take everything off to get to the nuts to tighten the fairlead on.

Take all of your skid plate bolts out. loosely thread them in and then tighten all of them from the outside bolts to the middle ones. You might have to wiggle the skid plate a bit to get them loosely in. Or you can slot both outside holes.

Thats your fairlead back plate. Goes between the fairlead and the bumper. the plastic cover is trash now.

while you have the skid plate off. I recommend that you take the winch mounting bolts out and the top cover on the bumper so that you can get to the fairlead bolts. Or you could just use some extensions and a swivel to get to them.

Not sure. I have a Warn Zeon 12K winch with Warn mount and it fit well but snug. The winch is extremely tight but it fits like it's supposed too. You have to be methodical about it and leave all bolts loose until everything is in place. The fit is tight but it fits nonetheless. I watched a few installs on YouTube first which really helped. The secret is to get things in place with the bolts loose first. I found with mine that the 12K winch was very snug and would have benefited from some more bumper clearance. Regardless of what the videos say, it took me about four or five hours to get it right. Good luck to you.

Mine didn’t come with the fairlead plate and I didn’t want to purchase one, so I just cut holes on the plastic blank and it looks pretty decent. I guess the air dam is trash?

Does the brush guard black your trail cam? Are you going to get a relocation kit for the cam? I am thinking about doing this and adding lights.
