Thank you. I noticed a product recall message banner on my Amazon order history page, and I also got an automated email from Amazon.

Same here. I have one of these - the remote worked when brand new. A couple weeks later it was dead (unless plugged in). I've found many other similar reports when searching on it. Seems like there really is a problem in there

It sounds like the advisory is to open it up look for corrosion and if it’s corroded get a new one. Anyone and everyone on here can do this “recall”. I don’t see in the advisory that they are recommending replacing them all, I believe it’s just inspect them all and don’t use them until they are inspected.

**Edit… I’m not saying don’t get a new one assuming they issue ones that are actually waterproof. I’m just saying that in the near term this isn’t a big deal. Or… if yours had never seen rain or water you’re probably okay but I’d still check it and get a replacement for the day you do get it wet. Mines been used a lot in snow (pulling other people out) so I’m interested how it will look. It stopped working wirelessly a long time ago like others have mentioned but works fine wired. To be honest I have never even checked the battery so…

I believe what I read is that if you inspect yours and you find water inside or corrosion, you can preemptively reach out to them and they'll replace it ASAP. I'm guessing in the mean time they're working to stockpile a large amount of the new ones that they'll send out en masse at a later date to all owners.

Even if your remote is fine, I would still call warn and get a remote that will be waterproof. Are you constantly going to look inside the battery compartment to see of there is any corrosion?

Looks like it is just the Evo winch remote, the one I have on order that plugs into a five wire socket that is on most any Warn winch, is much different. Recall states if you find corrossion contact them and they will send the exact same thing to you ASAP, and when they have a redesigned waterproof one they will send that when they are in stock.....Jack
PS: SelfmodJT thanks for posting this
