The absolute worst thing about a Jeep is the dealers. I am in the mecca of Jeep dealers and the 7 of them within 50 miles of me are absolute and utter garbage. Jeep/dodge/ram would sell more cars if they could wrangle their dealers into shape. The second most comment comment to me is ”what will you do if theirs issues”? Ignorance is bliss I say.
I am extremely lucky in that I have 3 Jeep dealers in a 10 mile radius, 10 Jeep dealers in a 20 mile radius, and 19 in a 30 mile radius. (about 50 in a 50 mile radius). I'm giving the dealership that sold me the car first crack, because they've been friendly, helpful, professional about the sales process, and I have the owner's phone number if there are any problems (they are almost 20 miles away and about $10 in tolls). But, and this is a BIG but, if their service department sucks even once, it's not gonna be difficult to switch dealers. Hell most of the closer dealers wont require tolls to get to.

I had 3 rental vehicle options last time I was in.

The other closest one was still an hour away. And honestly, shouldn’t the first one be enough?
Have you checked out your new Toyota service department?

I understand the feeling, at least my dealer has been ok. No problem getting a loaner for the week it will supposedly take them to replace the windshield surround.?‍♂ It took 4 months for them to get the parts, which seems odd because with chip shortages lowering production you would think a part with no electronics would be easier to get. We will see if it really takes them a week.

Sorry your dealership pushed you away from a Jeep. It's unfortunate how common this seems to be.
I even had the same opinion from my first Jeep a few years ago. Caused more damage in a repair than it went in for.

Luckily we have another in the area that is phenomenal. It really does make or break the brand.

You will find this with ALL dealership service departments, good and bad. Just find and drive what you love, and find a better place for service.

It's much better to just fade away into oblivion, than to tell a bunch of lifetime Jeep owners that because the dealership mis-treated you you bought a toyota. Really the only sympathy a true enthusiast will give you, is tell you that they constantly drive around TRD Pro trims on the trail, and not let the door hit you...

I can't tell you how many 'Offroad' toyotas I have driven around with my Jeeps, but it's always funny to watch their disappointed expressions while doing so. It takes a certain person to own a Jeep, if that's not you, mind the door as it tends to close quickly...

@JAY can there be a sub forum for these types of threads... Dealer complaints?

Didn't you have another dealership you could have worked with? I've got 3 I'd check out if the one down the road failed me.
There is another one about an hour away. I just figured loyalty to the one I bought the jeep at would be good enough. I mean seriously, I should have to drive out of my way because my dealer service center sucks?

Sorry that you had issues with your dealer. As many have posted, your in good company! I too am not fond of my local dealer. When I took my first ride in a Gladiator to test drive it, they forgot to put gas in it. Yes, ran out of gas one half mile from the dealership once I got on the freeway. Took them forever to come rescue me as I discovered how Notso Bright I really was. It started getting warm and I couldn’t put the windows down as I couldn’t find the damn controls in the door. Felt like a loser opening the owners manual. Felt even more stupid when I learned where the window control buttons were located. I was Notso happy when they finally arrived and swore I would not buy a Jeep from them or ever get one serviced by them. I currently drive 20 minutes further to Healdsburg to get my Jeep serviced and have had great experiences so far.

I really hope your Toyota treats you well and Happy Easter!
Yeah it’s crazy. I drove two hours to buy this Toyota and already the experience was greater than any at my local Jeep Dealer. Sounds like you’re getting all your stuff ironed out though.

I hate to hear this because I really enjoy my truck despite a few little niggling issues. No other vehicle even comes close to the joy this one’s brought me. It’s a shame that you had to endure that experience and that it ruined what for many of us has turned out to be a wonderful truck. I hope the new vehicle and dealer serve your needs better. . .
Yeah we really wanted to like the vehicle. We did a lot to it. Loved the utility aspects of it. Just wasn’t dependable honestly.

Wanted to like it. Didn’t like having the dealer have it for thirty days while an engine was replaced. Didn’t seem to be a one-off - and that was Jeep - not the dealer. The dealer just didn’t handle the service side of it well.

And here’s the deal, you may drive around me on the trail - but at least mine won’t be in the shop - because I got rid of it. Nothing against jeep owners - just Jeep not giving good service and having a subpar, overpriced product.

just as I’ve complained about my experience with Jeep, you took the time to offer your opinion about what you think. So just as yours is free to express, so is mine.

this board is loaded with people who have purchased and overpriced utility vehicle only to be disappointed and frustrated with it. I’m letting them know I decided to do something about it.

keeping the jeep just wouldn’t line up with my principles.

I said it in the original post, we really wanted to like the vehicle. It actually is a pretty decent ride. The customer service ruined it for us.

it just isn’t dependable from my point of view.

Yep when I bought mine and then had the steering issue the local jeep dealership in Katy. Gave me nothing but crap and really ticked me off. Then about 6 months later I got a call from them that they had turned over new management in the service department. I told them man after that last go with you all can go to hell. He told me I see that you had a complaint and wanted to reach out to you that if your still having the issue bring it to us and we will take care of it no questions asked. So I brought it in and sure enough they took care of everything. Each time back since then for oil changes or things like busted visor, etc. They have been very proactive and helpful. They tell me if your in a rush we will do what we can but if not and you could leave the car for a day or so would be very much appreciated. So far so good. I will say it also helps that they have some new folks working up front and not the deadheads before who could care less. That alone makes things way better just someone at the front at least getting you on the books, etc.
