Hello all,

First time posting for a little help, thanks for having me in this family.

I have my 2020 Gladiator rubicon gas 3.6 for 7 years now and it's been doing great except for broken starter. I recently came across this problem, when I have the truck in park or drive, a sudden press on the gas pedal will cause this sound below, and slowly pressing/ accelerating doesn't. I have attached the videos to the post below for reference.

The truck runs mostly on highway and it is in stock. KMs is at 95000 KM (about 60k miles or so) I love the truck, but I worry too much about it.

Does anyone know what this sound might be? and also, does my engine sound like a 3.6 TICK?

Greatly appreciated!

Are you referring to the air "swoosh" noise? I can't think of a better description on a lazy Sunday morning, lol. If so, that just sounds like the intake pulling in air to me. Mine sounds similar when stomping on the gas pedal. It's even more noticeable on mine because of the Banks Ram-Air setup the previous owner installed and I couldn't be bothered to remove.

Sounds like air “swoosh” sucking in through the throttle body like @Thunderspud said.

Being not very familiar with mechanical stuff as mentioned and with 95k kms, I’m assuming you haven’t had the throttle body off yet? It would be a good time to do a throttle body and intake tube clean and tighten up the clamp straps when done.

Yea ok if you are talking about the loud click or clack at first press of the hi pedal? Then I would try one easy thing to see if you can isolate the noise and cause. Wait until the engine has cooled, then just release the pressure on the assessory drive belt, more commonly known as fan belt. Just to see if the sound repeats itself. If not, then I would suspect the idler pulley, that I believe is spring loaded and you use to release pressure to remove the belt. That would tell you if the noise doesn’t go away it’s not the belt causing the noise.

Yes just the one big sound before the rpm moans, I didn't pay attention to this before so I was bit panicked. Thanks.

I thought swoosh sound would be like wind whistling sound and this was completely different. Thanks for the advice on throttle body, I was in the dealer a couple weeks ago for the peace of mind and they told me my throttle body needed a clean and I had no idea this has to be cleaned. I" l'll see if I can get one somewhere else bc my dealer kinda suck.. Thanks a lot.
