We only had 2 channels 12 & 5 we was just out of range of channel 4 in Pittsburgh. Ours was WDTV and WBOY .

Coal furnace, rabbit ears with foil. AM radios. Help with putting chains on the school bus to get to school on time when it snowed. Had neighbors that still had outhouse in the backyard.

Stoking the coal furnace at night. We used to call that " beating the dragon in the balls".

We had an outhouse and 1 inside toilet. There was 6 of us kids .if one of the girls was using the bathroom us boys had to make the mad dash outside .. finally dad built a second bathroom and Mom had Dad tear down the outhouse . The base was concrete so Dad filled it up with dirt . Some years later mom set a flower pot on top of it
We lived so far out our nearest neighbors with kids was 3 miles away.

I was so confused until I was about 15. Mom called me by "take out the garbage", dad called me " get wood", but then there were times they both called me "change the channel".
It wasn't until we moved and got a new fangled remote controlled TV and forced air, that I learned my real name was "get a switch"
