Son of a $&@$$))()!!! So last night around 11pm, I was watching a movie, and all of a sudden, I remembered. Dammit! There is a stupid foam price that rests passively underneath the driver side of the upper intake, sitting on the cable rail below. I left the stupid thing on the welding table and didn’t put it in before putting everything back together. I did some searching last night, and found a couple of JL forum threads about it. It seems like it’s for noise reduction, and is not required. I’ll happily (lies) take it apart again to put it back if it’s important. But if not, it’s a huge PITA to get all that stuff off. Probably 2 hours of work minimum. Does anyone have experience with that stupid thing, or have an experienced opinion on its importance or lack of?

I stole this meme from the JL forum thread, so must give credit.

LOL, I forgot to put mine back also. :CWL: With all the other normal wind buffeting noises the Gladiator has already, I did not notice it.

Thanks. I’m feeling better about the mistake being benign. I just drove it on the interstate and noticed no strange noises. And the new coils provided a noticeable power increase.

Thanks very much. If it doesn’t support the upper intake, and is just for noise, I’m leaving it until the next time I need to remove it. Is yours still off?
Plus you gain 4 lbs of payload back to help offset all the stuff we e added over the years. ?

I love it. I wish. It weighs almost nothing. But maybe wind making its way through the crack between the hood and grill will have less resistance when making its way to a dead end via the negative space under the upper intake.

Ok. That was a lot even for me.

I think the worst part was on the driver side near the egr valve. The posts that hold that side of the manifold go through two brackets, that don’t have an obvious removal method. So you need to temove the egr, loosen the bracket, and carefully remove the manifold towards passenger to clear the long bolts that stay in the manifold. Super annoying.
Just so you know, I'm driving cross country to your place when its time for mine to be replaced. I'll give you a heads up when I'm on the way. ???

Do you have a link or picture of this amazing creeper?
I think it might be easier to just pull the bumper and radiator fan and every in front of the engine and stand right in there between the frame ..lol ???
Okay all jokes aside my Uncle has one of those topside creepers .says it's mighty handy dandy.

Apparently I’m not too fat to sit on the hood latch/fan area. :)
I have two large solid wooden blocks that I place on the ground in front of the truck and stand on them. I previously owned a full sized Ram 2500 and I couldn't reach up into it very far and definitely not comfortably. So that's where they came from they are 12x12 blocks of Oak treated with creosote.

Replacing the spark plugs by the brake vacuum booster was a major PITA on my Power Wagon. End up laying across the motor.

Well picture not necessary for this but I readjusted the drag link to get the steering wheel straight. It was off just a little and when I adjusted it I went to far. All the roads around here are horrible crowned horribly full of potholes and dips and plunges. And to top it off my drive is directly off the roadway and I thought I had it right but it wasn't. I think I got it this time. Just in case I am bringing an 15mm gear wrench and a pair of adjustable jaw pliers just in case I need them.

I’ve found that driving straight for 50-100 feet (wheels straight) is enough distance for the steering pump to stabilize. When I’ve done that, it’s perfect on the first try.
