The weather was nice today so I changed the Oil, Engine Air Filter and Cabin Air Filter which was filthy with only 13000 miles on it.

The last oil change I used one of the remaining "free" Jeep Wave ones at my local dealer since there was two recalls that needed to be performed. I had to use a breaker bar to get the Oil Filter Cap loosened and found it had 2 o-rings on the filter cap. Luckily I don't see any cracks or leaking on the Filter Housing from it being over torqued.

I saw a tip from a mechanic on a Jeep you take off the front tires and put the axle on jack stands as low as it can go . I never thought about that. You can reach things a lot easier.
I actually go lower than that. I pull the front wheels and place wood blocks under the ball joint studs on each side, carefully avoiding the brake shields, and lower the front end onto the blocks. It works for me better than deflating the front tires, which is another popular way to get the front end lower.

After he gave that tip - I wondered about using some of the numerous wood blocks of all shapes and sizes I have to put under the ball joints.
Taking the tires off is also advantageous for checking on other things while in there.

I have honestly thought about this as well.... Not necessarily due to the 'difficulty' but the cost from the dealer. it is supposed to be 100% covered under my pre-paid service plan, but we'll see. Who knows if I even have it long enough to rack up 100K. Depends on a few things the next couple years, and the reliability and the quality of service. I noticed yesterday I am more than a quart low on the oil change they did on Thursday. Going to have a meeting with the manager and general manager about it. I'm pretty not happy with the quality of service thus far and can only imagine the headache and problems with doing more invasive surgery.

Yeah but then I think about how the entire PDC and battery box has to be removed just to replace the valve cover gasket that is leaking on the passenger side. What a mess. Thats a 10 hour job - for a valve cover gasket.... and a LOT of things can go wrong with pulling the entire PDC - especially given the current trend of repair quality by my local dealer.
I’d much rather do that stuff myself than risk a dealer jacking something up. It’s not paranoia. It’s a likelihood unfortunately. I’ll be fixing my own locker sensor thanks to this forum and a service manual. It might technically be under warranty at 56k miles, but I don’t want the stress of fighting with those turds, or the helplessness while they keep it for 3 weeks doing nothing.

Let's see - changing spark plugs on a Mustang (Cobra, can't recall, it was 70 or 71 maybe?) - disconnect battery and a few other wires, disconnect some hoses, disconnect engine mounts, lift engine as high as possible until bell housing hit the firewall/tunnel, now you can get to the spark plugs past the headers.
It was a half-day adventure and the boss laid it in my lap - I later saw why.
Ford's FE series big block was often aggravating to work on, especially in the '69-'70 Mustangs and Cougars. But I found that the Dodge 440 was actually a breeze to change plugs on, even in the B-body chassis (Charger, GTX, road runner, etc.). Once you get used to it, most jobs are easier. As for plugs on a 3.6 PUG, the upper intake manifold comes off somewhat easier on the Wrangler and Gladiator than it does on other 3.6 PUG engines.

First week as a 1st time Jeep owner and didn’t go to crazy. Installed Mopar all weather mats, Mopar Bug deflector, dead pedal, Bulletpoint Rubigrids phone mounts, Bestop Sunrider, Kempter Kustoms hitch cover, and T-Rex Easter egg decal. Also had a Diamondback Switchback installed at the factory.

I had to order extras of dino because my wife wants one on her JLU - and we all know that Jeep windshields can break every 10 years or so. .

Yeah - I totally get it. For me, the appeal of a new vehicle was the warranty - and specifically not having to work on things that are under warranty. I knew times were tough with today's culture, but I didnt know they were this bad. Had I known 3 years ago, honestly I might have kept my old truck and not purchased the Gladiator in the first place. Because if I have to work on it myself anyway, it would be easier working on an older vehicle. Water under the bridge now though....so I will hold them to it for doing their job correctly which is the reason for a little phone call and potential meeting in a few weeks.

Washed them both and installed the Ram phone mount in Mo. Now that I am buying a second set of mods for the new one, it is depressing to see how much the prices have increased.
