Very good suggestions.
Looked at it today more closely and it looks like when I take the cover off, there will be just enough left sticking out that I might be able to get the vice grips on it. I´m taking the cover off tomorrow, so God willing, I will have confirmation of that.

Installed my MC rear sway bar bracket braces after a coat of black paint. Now that rear sway bar is solid back there. Possibly my last mod to it.
Were the bolts sent with the bracket braces long enough? I´m getting ready to do mine, too. Maybe tomorrow. Also, were you able to paint right over the zinc chromate finish, or did you remove or prime it?

Dan, be careful with the bolts MC sends you,I got my brace right when they came out and the one set of bolts in the kit is to use if you already broke the brace, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THREAD! I think Jeep put longer bolts in at some time, as I went to the dealer with a part number and got the longer bolts to use. Some guys have jammed them in and others have drilled out the brace nut insert to put the bolts, the best way to go is get the proper bolt from dealer and not HD or Lowes....Jack

Sounds good. I will find out probably tomorrow evening. That´s when I´ll likely tackle this.

Thanks!

MC sends sae bolts. I noticed the thread was off and swapped in metric bolts. The factory threads are intact on mine.

Dan, do what the other Dan says! I think Metal Cloak incudes bolts for the repair which means drill out the factory bolt if it is still there.
Always listen to Dan from Colorado unless it involves sledding down a sand dune!....Jack

Sounds like there is a good story here??? Maybe a video too, if we're lucky!!!
I rode a sand board (like a 1990’s skurfer on sand) down a massive steep corniced dune. I’d say 60 degrees and a few hundred feet tall. I had it all the way down. But at the bottom, it leveled out and I lost it. I got up to find a line a random people at the top, silently standing there to see if I was alive. I just said ow, as I started walking the debris line to retrieve my glasses, hat, and the board. I must have rolled a bit, as the board was about 30’ behind me. Then I hobbled back to my family, about a 1/2 mile away, face bleeding, sprained ankle, and whatever the hell I did to my shoulder. Good times. Doctor said it’s not rotator cuff, but some other shoulder thing I forgot. Something about how the clavicle attaches to the shoulder, but not serious enough to do anything but use it.

Worth it? Maybe if I’d been 25. :)

I truly wish there was a video. Only strangers saw it. The only picture is one of my face after. Happy to share. Mostly just a scratch. It didn’t feel good with sand in it. The pictures show where I dropped in, into the opening between the dunes. Same board my daughter was riding.
