Thanks. I wasn’t sure when that changed.

Ouch. Yes. That’s pain. I have yet to have that bs tap method work. For future reference, and I didn’t think it would work, a Milwaukee torch sawzall blade cuts through ball joint spindles/studs like melted butter. 10 seconds. I was shocked, but happy I didn’t need to risk starting the garage on fire with my die grinder.
I’m on the way home with a harbor freight 12 ton shop press. If it gets it out, it’ll cost me less than half of the cost of a replacement knuckle.

(Last week but forgot to post) added Oracle Tailights after finally crushing one of my factory LEDS at EJS. I was quite pleased to learn my blind spot monitor still works. These are the smoked ones and I love them.

huge fan now that I have them and the backup lights are fantastic. Thanks @ORACLE Terry !

I would suggest also adding copious amounts of heat to the outer knuckle to try and get the opening to grow and release pressure.

Get it all set in the press then add heat until it smokes then press.

Seen a machinist pinch the most of his little finger off setting up a piece to be machined. Walked up to me calm as could be cupping his hands with the missing finger part in his palm. Said to me, "I just cut off my little finger." I replied back, "What do you want me to do about it?" Called 911. They took him to the local hospital. From there he was life flighted to a trauma center. They couldn't save the finger.
I've seen this more than i wanted. Also seen men's long pony tails ripped off. None of it is fun!

Initial setup didn’t work. Broke the bolt portion off. I’ll try again later when I have time.

In preparation of a coastal visit this weekend, I made a stop for the rear window. We take our dog almost everywhere we go, so being able to leave the back window partly opened, but secure would be handy.

Piece of stainless steel from some old shelf, I cut to 6.5 inches. Drop it in the channel and bam. If I like it, I'll probably shrink wrap it so it fits snugger and doesn't rattle.
What I'd really like is a power rear window like our last two pickups.

Mabe, I missed it, but did you heat the knuckle? Sucks that a 12 ton pressed failed to remove it!

Are you pressing from the bottom of the ball joint while at the same time driving the pin of the ball joint into a fixxed surface?

I hope not, nothing is going to move, that is like putting a solid block in a press and pressing against that.

You need to use a large socket or pipe as a collar that goes around the entire ball joint interior side (ball joint collar and all) and have that pipe rests on the collar of the actual knuckle. That way when you press you are supporting the knuckle portion only and pushing the ball joint into the void of the pipe.
