I put the D.E. Boom Mat insulation in yesterday. While this hard-topped Jeep (my first ever with a hard top) was already much quieter than my rag-top past, I read that the insulation not only helps with noise, it help with A/C, that's what I was more interested in.

I've learned that the previous owner (2023 Freedom Edition with 41k on it) most likely never took the top off, I think half the screws still had the factory torque by the little "snick" sound the screws gave when broken free.

I contemplated leaving the top on when installing, several reviewers said it was possible if you don't mind a few wrinkles in the padding. I'm a little anal retentive to detail, ever time I saw a wrinkle I'd mutter, "I should've taken the top off....". So I pulled it off with the help of a neighbor. I'm glad I did.

I was successful in being almost wrinkle free, I knew the foam stretches a wee bit when you pull off the backing paper, so using the hinge-method of installing, I started applying were visible; the rear of the cab. Nice and smooth, wrinkle free. There is a couple 2" wrinkles above the sound bar, unseen. I'm happy with that. Afterwards I drove it, did I have an OMG moment ? No. It was quieter, but not by that much. Barely noticeable. But it does finish out the interior nicely.

To those that may have never used Boom Mat, they state in the instruction the adhesive is strong; that's not a marketing gimmick. A piece that was blown by the wind came to rest on my forearm. Pulled arm hairs free.

I bought this Jeep on November 18th, in less than one month so far I've put on the Boom Mat, Trail Rails, Trifold hard tonneau cover, door sill pads, door striker cover plates, hood decals, the traditional "4 wheel drive" decal on the tailgate, that Amazon Special cheapie console inner tray combo, that JT data plate.

My wife made the comment that I've done more to this Jeep faster than I've ever done anything to any of my other vehicles. I said, "There are more add-ons for Jeeps than there are silly tacti-cool add-ons for an AR-15 !!". I said it jokingly, but there is a lot of truth to that statement.

Still on the agenda - power steps for my wife and mother in law, Molle panels in the bed, then all the stuff that gets strapped ON the Molle panels.

Ran 12v power to the bed of the truck for a portable fridge and freezer šŸ™Œ

I thoroughly enjoy wiring projects, and I love them even more when it all works on the first try lol don’t judge the paint, it sucks 🤣 just wanted some rust protection.

That looks fantastic. I love wiring as well. So satisfying.

Well it wasn't today but about a week or so ago. I added a stealth black aluminum tonneau cover with an Overland rack that actually mounts to the cover. Loving it so far. The cover has key locks for security.

I like those retractables, but I park under a tree that's forever vomiting acorns, I'd fear they'd clog the slats or something...

After looking at a lot of photos, I decided I would like black wheels on my Sarge Green 2024. Went with KMC Canyons, 17", 35mm offset. I kept my Falkens. (Also, did something quite unusual for MN. Washed the JT in the home driveway on Dec 16!)

Maybe jealous! It hit 44 F here yesterday. Plus, the way our house was plumbed, it was easy to have a faucet for hot and cold in the garage. So the occasional winter wash is doable. Ideally it would be sunny and over 32 F.

Today I’d rather have a blizzard, instead of the warm dry extreme winds, causing our current power outage. Ours is either a utility shutoff to prevent fires, or a down line. I give it 50/50.

And today, I put the fridge in to test it! It’s an Amazon brand one but works surprisingly well thus far! Cooled down from 63* F to 0* and 35* (L and R) within 45 mins on ECO mode 😮

I've made the decision that when we build our next place, the shop will have a stall with a lift, good floor drain and plumbed for hot water so I can hand wash vehicles all year AND get underneath.

Stan H -

I can't cut down that tree for several reasons... 1) it's the only tree on my entire property, 2) Our HOA requires a tree in the front yard. And they are serious about it.

One of my neighbors had his tree crack in half during one of our hurricanes. He had it removed. Within 6 months he said he got a letter from the HOA saying he was in violation and the tree had to be replaced AND gave him stipulations; certain species, minimum 6 feet tall at planting, etc.. They went so far as to give him a completion date or he'd start getting fines.
