Got a few little things done yesterday.
Installed my ebay tonneau cover. $120
Installed a molle panel that I use to hold my truck gun. Jl, Jlu, Jt Jeep 18-22 | Molle-platform-solutions.com
Cleaned up the cable for my wireless charger.
Installed a dashcam, hid a hardwire (need to figure out what fuses I can tap into and it'll be good to go).
Installed an alienshade front sunshade.
Oh, and replaced the antenna since I don't ever use FM radio. Eventually I'll do a delete once I read up on how its done.

What dashcam is that? Would it work as an action cam?

Your pics might confirm my suspicion about the front-only Alien Sunshade. Looks to be pretty level from front to back, and I found I just fit under the full-shade due to it climbing over the sport bar. May have lucked out as I was this close to buying front-only, but missed the deal and got the full while I could at $42. https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...-admin-warning-no-politics.23705/post-1180177

Created a just-in-case, sleep-in-the-cab camping setup. Prototyped with a rope hammock (pic 1), improved it with a polycanvas hammock (pic 2). It'd be a lot more roomy if I actually lost the 50 lbs I've been meaning to ?????

I'd have to lose 50lbs first, otherwise it'd be a 3 hour tour to even get into that. I'm looking more like the Skipper than Gilligan at the moment.

I'm surprised by how flat the front/back seats fold together though. Get a 3d scan of that, might be able to fit a custom blow-up mattress and sleep diagonally.

While backing into my most recent camping spot… By myself, not that it’s really any of an excuse for this… I did not see this incredibly small, well camouflaged concrete pipe.

The angle that I had the truck along with the tuen of the front wheels meant that the rear wheel missed it and the truck hit it with the rock rails along the side and ended up popping up onto it…

So I dug out underneath of the pipe to get it a little lower, and I was able to pull forward at the same angle to get back off of it. But thank God for having rock rails even though this is the closest thing to a rock they’ve ever seen..im also thankful it only really impacted the rock rail and just touched the drivers side LCA mount.

When I got home today, I taped off the area and re-painted it.

Not too bad!

In my previous truck, I drove a wheel right into one of the sunken fire rings on the day I was leaving. Good thing I was slow to leave on a holiday Monday, there were less spectators around when they had to pull me out with a tractor.

AZDOME M550
Got it because it has a waterproof rear camera and I'm planning on running it to the bumper somewhere....at some point.
Amazon.com: AZDOME M550 Dash Cam 3 Channel, Built in WiFi GPS, Free 64GB Card, Front Inside Rear 1440P+1080P+1080P Car Dashboard Camera Recorder, 4K+1080P Dual, 3.19" IPS, IR Night Vision, Capacitor, Parking Mode : Electronics
When I hear 'action cam' I think portable. This is fixed, and while it can be easily removed(and they include a second mount), it's not self powered.
It's not a bad camera. I don't expect it to last as long as the more expensive ones, but it works. And, the place I put it, my face is hidden behind the mirror. So, win for me, and win for anyone who has to watch the playback.

As for the shade, nobody is ever sitting in the back so I only cared about the front. My head doesn't touch. I'm 5.10. It's very level front to back, no sag and doesn't flap around when the top is off.

Thanks. Bad terms on my part to say action cam. In this case, I should have clarified "also being able to record adventures like one would with an action cam."

I'd like a dash cam, but may also want to record trips. I haven't looked yet if that's feasible to do with only one cam, but your post made me consider it again. Nothing to be mobile, just a two-birds-one-stone thought.

I only wanted the front shade too. Missed a good deal by a few minutes, but the full shade was still greatly discounted so I went for it. And at 6'2" I think I lucked out, as it climbing over the sport bar appears required for me to fit under it.

This is the most ridiculous insane and totally awesome thing I’ve seen done with a Jeep lately. I especially like that it’s a crochet hammock rather than a modern nylon one. It’s a nice traditional island or middle-eastern or Roma vibe. Like a Gypsy wagon Jeep.

Gypsy wagon will make an amazing name for someone's Jeep

First time ever replacing a pinion seal.

PIECE OF CAKE!!!

You read and see YouTube tutorials about using an inch pound beam style torque wrench to dial in the preload. But first time out I got to say... kinda useless. Just creep up on the preload with a medium impact wrench till the back and forth play (not rotational play ?) is gone.

Now we wait to see if my pinion bearings blow up ?
Don't be surprised when your impact wrench method toasts your pinion bearings & costs you way more $$ than you "saved" by doing it yourself.

Was actually back on Saturday. Sent her to a new home. Traded in the 20 White Overland for the 23 Black Rubi.

With the year end incentives and such, I simply couldn't resist the upgrade.

Congratulations on the upgrade. Now scratch it. :)

Not my first black vehicle. You'd think I'd have learned by now to avoid it, but it keeps sucking me back in.
Owned a black JL. Came to appreciate it more on other peoples vehicles.

Terraflex 1 1/2” level kit

No rubbing at full lock and compression, tires not as loud as I thought, drives better than stock on pavement. The 12 ply’s have taken away the mushy feel of the stock doughnuts tires. Also I think the extra weight of new rims and tires are a better match up with the Rubi Fox take off shocks. I fretted over the poke out, but it came out exactly like I wanted. Very pleased with purchase.
