FULL DISCLOSURE - Here's the story that accompanies those stunning photos.

After we are done playing in the snow, go to start the Jeep, engage into Drive, and instead of going forward the Jeep slides backwards and towards the edge of the cliff!!!

There is barely 2 inches of fresh snow on the trail in this area but it is a sheet of ice under it.

I get out of the truck to take a look - my rear passenger tire is 2 inches off the edge!

It is a 300-foot drop!!! 😱😱😱

We have no phone reception and are 50 miles from civilization.

I get back inside, engage 4-Lo, then the rear locker, then the front locker, but the Jeep still refuses to move forward. I have Rosie tethered in the back and my balls in my throat.

Think Aldo, think!!

I have the clarity of mind to air all four tires down to 15 PSI. Get back inside and this time the Jeep gently slides away from the edge enough for me to calm down. But I still cannot move forward, let alone turn around.

We go down in reverse very slowly for a couple miles. At one point, with my foot planted on the brakes, we slide down completely out of control for 60 or 80 yards, gathering speed...until we get caught in a rock.

All I can do is keep my eyes glued at the side mirror, the front wheels pointed at the mountain, and pray! Gawd I haven't prayed like this ever before!

I keep checking on Rosie through my rear-view mirror. I can only see the back of her head as she keeps staring out the back of the truck. She does seem worried.

Forty-five minutes later we finally make it to a spot where the trees keep the trail clear of ice and is wide enough to do a six point turn.

We head down to the trailhead, pump my tires back to 37 PSI and get us home.

Home never felt so warm and safe.

Lots to give thanks for this upcoming Thanksgiving!

We are about to find out here - might get to try out the plow on the Mojave......hope so!!
I feel for ya guys, man I'd hate to deal with road salt and snow every year. We still wheelin' with the tops off here. The cold hasn't hit yet, we have amazing weather, we still have people playing at the beach. LOL the water is a little cool but totally doable. Man I'd get cabin fever so bad

LOL!

All I can say is: sliding down a narrow shelf road with your foot stomped on the brakes and NO control is one of the scariest things!

Use the off-road cruise control and get in the back, less scary then :CWL:

Went on a drive about on Friday/overnight into Saturday through Rampart Range, Hackett gulch and attempted to get over Mosquito Pass in the Friday night snow. Still quite a decent headwater flow on the south platte at the bottom of the gulch and ran into Rocky who got in my way heading up the pass. we hung out for a few minutes and shot the S**t.. I only made it about 1000 feet passed the mine on the east side before the snow and gravity stopped me. Quite a thrill backing all the way back down to the mine on the shelf road after packing a line down trying to go up. Camped out under the stars near Alma with the winter gear.

Being from Texas, you couldn't pay me to deal with humidity especially Houston humidity ever again. I will take the 115 degree desert every single day.

Took another sick kitty to the vet for an emergency visit.
This is getting old - my JT is used to transport me back and forth to surgeries and doctors appointments and sick cats to the ER and today, Pickle went in (crying all the way) for a bulging eye and red/bloody line around his eye.
I guess my JT is an ambulance, and a hearse as much as anything else.

I mean dry has it's problems too right, the dry boogers, skin, chapped lips. Yea we have a hot 3 months, but then end of oct to may we have fantastic weather. I mean 8.5 months of great weather, what's not to like? Oh but yea it's HOT AF July - August. August it offending, walk outside and it's oven like. LOL

I like to tell people "you get used to it" but I was born and raised here in Houston. I hated august at 13 mowing yards as much as i do 35 years later. LOL Yeah you never get used to July - August, you just get beat up by it. LOL I have so thought about buying some land somewhere in a cooler climate to escape our houston summers.

But man, end of oct to may, come on bruh. the weather is amazing. It's fantastic top off weather

But I can't lie, I see you're in Utah. I get everyone is all about moab, but man I've done two road trips exploring Utah, what a fantastic off-roading state. It's like the whole state is one big off-road park. Absolutely love it there.

I had to do that with my grandson on Monday when he ate it on his dirt bike in the desert. Fortunately I had a friend who is an EMT sitting in the front passenger seat tending to my grandson who was laying in the back seat while I drove the 45 minutes to the ER.
Once they released him my JT was the medical transport to his house.

The Smudge pot ran amok.

apparently it was overfilled and boiled over. They were all circled around and scattered pretty quickly but contained the overflow and let it burn out. It’s under control now but they haven’t regrouped arond the smudge.

I'm used to the dry and as long you are hydrated it's fine. When people visit it's rough on them, but I like it. Here in St George the weather only sucks in July/August, but even at 115 if you are in the shade it feels way cooler. Can't escape humidity even in the shade. When it really sucks for me is when I coach on turf and it's 160 on the turf.
