I voted for the 5.7 it is the perfect balance of power, torque and yes even sound. No, 392 great engine drove a buddies Challenger with it fun as all h3LL, but wrong engine for a 4x4 off road vehicle. Sure if your going to use it on dunes it would be fun, or as a street beast but not practical choice for an actual off road vehicle. Which brings me to the 4e. Sorry, don't think the tech is there quite yet. I use my Jeep off road (hunting, camping and fishing) and when I mean off road not in a KOA camp ground and I haven't seen too many charging stations in the back country. Cool for a city commuter Jeep but not for the back woods.
Loved the tractor reliability of the Inline 6 4.0L and even older 4.2 (258) BUT horrible on gas mileage and still lacking in power to even todays 3.6. Heck the v6's today are putting out about same horsepower as a v8 a generation ago and more than some of the older v8 Jeep engines like the 304.
The 5.7 is perfect, bit more getty up and go for freeway and for towing.

As long as you have gas in your 4xe you get the full 375 hp and 480 ft lbs of torque. Plugging it in just extends the time you drive on all electric only.

If a reasonably priced V8 option exisisted, and I am being honest, I would probably go that route.

The 4xe would be my next choice, the only drawback here is weight, but at least it is evenly distributed and in all reality no heavier than a full size truck. The instant torque is really awesome when off road.

The choice I made was a supercharged 3.6L. I really like it and it is what I was looking for, but if I had known the work it would take to get it right, not sure I would do it again for my DD. Power to weight is awesome and sound is pretty decent. My jeep sounding like an exotic is a bit weird, but in a good way.

Diesel/electric, extra batteries in the front of the bed & the hard, tri-fold cover with built-in solar panels.

Or a Cummings 5.9 and drive from the back seat.

Resurrecting this poll now that an actual inline 6 appears to be coming.

I didn’t vote for that option because it’s a turbo I-6. I’d love to have that option, but voted for turbo 3.6l instead. The 2.7tt available in the bronco is the only Bronco thing I’m interested in. I hope they put that new turbo I-6 in the gladiator one day.
