What have you done to make the interior seat more comfortable for the fam?

Hey all,

Looking to make a long two week road trip more comfortable for the fam. 10 year old in the back who complains about the seat (seat back is too vertical) and the navigator says it's "uncomfortable" Good luck getting her to be more specific

What have you done to make things better?

Already did the dead pedal and have the Katzkins seats

Considering :

installing heating for the back seats
front seat jackers
stuffing the lumbar area on the passenger seat?

What else?

Before you do the seat jackers, make sure its because she's too tall, not too short. Raising the front of the seat is great if you're legs are too long and you dont get thigh support, but if its cause she's too short that will just make it worse.

Other than a tailbone pillow i've yet to find anything short of a complete aftermarket rework of the padding thats helped me be comfortable for really extended road trips.

If you hadn't done the Katzkin seats, I would have told you to check out Wet Okole neoprene seat covers because you can add lumbar support for the passenger (navigator) seat. Since putting on the seat covers and adjusting the bolsters to my wife's preference, she says the ride is so much better. If you can find an adjustable bolster for the front, then I would consider it. I'm not aware of anything to adjust the back seats like you could in old JKU's.

Hmm, good point. She's 5'6" and mostly leg. I'll talk that through with her...

That's a great idea. I can probably get one in there, but I wonder how it would hold up with the heating elements?

So this is what it looks like, bartact has one I believe that you can purchase. Not sure how that would work with seat heaters thought. Since the bladder is plastic, I would think it would melt.

I think I found one that will go with a heater. I went and looked at Corbeau and they've got em and heating elements for their seats.


What else can I do to improve the trip?

I’ve found the best way to improve the trip is to fly my family to the destination and drive by myself with my dog. I’m sure not an option but always worked for me-

I've started doing this after years of trying convince everyone else to drive. I hate flying. They hate driving. Meeting them there has worked out well for most destinations around the U.S. and Canada.

It's fine for me, but my wife uses a seat pad. Then I use a very small mtn bike seat as well. All those years riding in 6X's in the Marines destroyed the nerves in my ass, I guess.

I ran aftermarket seat heaters in my JK. Cloth seats with neoprene covers, no issues. Then I changed out the neoprene covers to leather covers, still no issues.
