How about a "Recondition" OEM head unit that is not tied to the vin number.

You will need to stop ALL phone use, including land lines, even HAM radio.
You'll need to stop using power from the grid. (signals can ride the AC current in the lines - proof of that is intercoms that work strictly via and electric outlets in your home)
You will need to constantly wear masks, change them frequently, as well as your clothes and shoes to hide your height and weight.

Yeah, we are into something like thread 4 or 6 on this very topic with the links and articles in several of the posts in those threads.

You or she probably had your cell phones with you - leven some of the standard apps, but especially fakebook, instacrap and more track such things. They track location for targeted marketing. Old news.
Learn how to secure your phone, or leave it at home.

Where's that forehead slap icon again???????
Right, guess you haven't followed news, lawsuits and so on, and haven't been reading threads already here about that. It's to protect idiots from themselves. Yeah, I mean some Jeep owners.
I posted a while back about the person who took their car to a body shop to have some work done - body shop employee moved the car to get another in, left it in their lot and got out. Car was not in park. It rolled backwards onto the highway and was subsequently hit and totaled. Could have ended up with a death or two.
You'll be thankful for some of these features someday - but then since you disable them, I'll look for your name in the news.
There's been more than one incident where a child was hurt - run over, cars damaged, and of course the most famous one - a death of a Hollyweed star, because the vehicle moved after being exited.
But since you are smart enough to NEVER have any of that happen to you, go for it.
Oh, nearly forgot about the time our automotive instructor's foot was run over....... yeah, such a safety feature would have prevented it. People are people, and get distracted, think they know better and so on. Proof out there with all of the accidents related to a vehicle not being secure before being exited that it just isn't the case.

Believe me - more than once I wish some of my old cars, classics and so on, had a few more fail-safes.

I'm not a mean person, so I honestly hope you never find out how you being smarter than all other drivers ends up with trouble.

BTW - you want crazy registration fees - own a PHEV and see how much THAT costs to register. Apparently, those in power can't do math and "assume" rather than look at real world figures.
Some people need gubbamint intervention to protect them from themselves.

You are very verbose in your response. Are you trying to say that you don't know what it would take to be able to toggle switch off the Gladiator's built-in communications?
No, just that it can't be done that way. Too many diverse systems, not just one. Cell, satellite, gps and so on. Not just one wire.

Unlike the Airplane mode built-in to your phone, the cellular equipped head units are designed to be constantly active and connected to the cellular network. The only thing you can put a toggle switch on to stop communication is the power wire between the head unit and the fuse box.
And lose the whole thing including off road pages, AM and FM radio and anything else in there.

Looking into the wiring for this is slated for next weekend for me. More than likely the two receivers on top the center portion of the gladiator between the front and back seat needs to be unplugged. One is satellite and the other looks like a cellular module. But, once again I haven't looked. It also likely would disable a ton of things. I was planning on running it on a toggle switch to kill power to the different modules but at this point I dunno if I am keeping the thing.

Also cell phone tracks you way worse as previously mentioned.

Week 2 of owning a gladiator diesel and it's already going back to the dealer a second time with same issues as before and adding a communication code for steering.

@nanook12 don’t let all the d-bags bother you that need to poke fun at you in order to feel better about themselves. Hopefully none of them raised children and didn’t teach them to behave that way towards people. I appreciated your inquiry and the real responses that have tried to offer help.

Hi, I found this thread on another forum where someone did this to their 4xe.

He details where he found the cell card in his head unit.
Please let us know if you try this, I may also be interested in giving it a try.

https://www.4xeforums.com/threads/i-removed-the-cellular-modem-from-my-4xe-followup-post.1067/

After reading his write-up, I would think just disconnecting the antenna connections from the card would be enough to stop any connection to a cell tower.
Very helpful reply. Truly impressive and somewhat disappointing the level of blissful ignorance shown by some of the derogatory replies here. The OPs question is legit - he has concerns many share. Just because some may not have the same concerns doesn’t make the OPs concerns less valid. Thanks for the pointer.

There's several, no exaggeration, threads on how to disconnect the cellular antenna and even the satellite antenna, right here in these forums.
With no antenna, or even with the antenna blocked by foil (no, that's not a joke) like a Faraday cage, the antenna can't transmit or receive if you don't want to remove parts.

The location should be the same for all JTs and JLUs

What you need is a set of healing stones. Using them in the right order, you pass them first over the head unit and over the upper dash area to cancel out the negative energy from the source. Let it sit for about 2-4 hours. Then use the same stones, in the same order, to cleanse the residual energy off the outside of the truck. Small, gentle circles are best. It may take a while, but anything worth doing does.

To prevent the energy from returning, make sure to use white sage anytime you're driving. You can either burn the sage directly, use incense, or a candle derivative. It may get a little smoky in the cab, but that's actually what you want, as the smoke means it's working. The closer you can put the sage to the head unit area, the more effective it will be.

Best of luck on your journey!
I tried that. It doesn’t work. I’m still getting messages that I’m low on milk at home.

I could just walk about 350 feet or so, and cross the road..........

I don't have a smartphone, never needed one, don't want one. I have a land line if you need to speak to me. I don't text either, I write letters.
I don't watch television, it's all either rubbish or boring as hell. My life is plenty exciting enough.
I am not a Luddite but I am way too busy to use social media to see what someone else had for breakfast.
I obviously have a computer and love to read about other peoples problems with Jeeps. That I find interesting.
Peace, Out.

What concerns me about the data collection, and the reason for this post is, what happens when you start deleting things off your jeep? Does your jeep rat you out? Is it better to block data transfer, before you come back online. What happens when you go dark…and you aren’t sending data back to jeep for them to sell?
I've been pondering the same things.
