CAFE…. most people can’t or won’t drive a manual transmission. Jeep dropped the automatic on the V6 hoping sales numbers would drop in turn lowering their CAFE exposure. Keeping the automatic for the 2.0 and 4XE will hopefully lower their exposure.

Bring me who thought this was a good decision…..

The gubmint and their infinite wisdom. Like tying fuel economy to vehicle footprint instead of something meaningful like vehicle classification and GVWR.

Don’t know if it’s been said, but when I bought my gladiator back in February. Sales manger said you also will not be able to get a v8 in a ram1500 In ‘25 it will come with v6 like the one in jl and jt…sounds like Jeep and the others are just bowing to the government regs…dont want a stick forced to the 2.0.

I guess to me, it makes sense to get rid of a problematic and limiting clutch system on a vehicle that is marketed for towing. I wouldn't be surprised if that has become more headache than it's worth. I know not everyone uses their JT that way, but truth be told that is how it's designed, and the MT has always fallen short in that regard.

JLs, on the other hand, don't suffer from that expectation, so the manual transmission is still viable there.

Just my initial thoughts on the situation.
Good point. The manual specs are really disappointing comparatively. They probably would have had a higher take rate if the specs matched/were close.

Every automobile is geared from the factory for mpg. My manual Rubicon Gladiator with 5:13 gears and 37" tires is geared excellent now. So, since all the modification people change tires and gears anyway, I do not see the argument regarding gearing. The stock clutch has also not been a problem. I did not even do the recalls. We have done all the Big Bear Badge of Honor trails numerous times, The Rubicon Trail twice, Johnson Valley trails, and many, many others. My wife also drives the Gladiator daily, and she has never complained about the clutch. We now have 71K miles. We also have other manual vehicles, so, we can compare them. My only real compaint is that the tranny synchos are slow in 4WD Low. I also do like the clutch feel of some of my other vehicles better, but, it is not a big enough issue to not buy the Gladiator.
