Hello all, this is the first time I've ever had to think of door storage. Is there a good chance that this can cause damage hanging the doors like this? I already had the materials for all of this so figured it was a good first try. If this isn't a good route, any good recommendations? I've seen a ton of carts that the doors hang by the hinges, but I'm just not sure the door can be supported by that long term without the latch side in place. Please let me know if I'm wrong in that thought though. Thank you very much!

On the old JK's I never worried about it. With our JT & JL now I do, with the lighter weight I worry about the strength of the doors. I have hung mine in the past but. this year I opted to build a cart like I built for my wife. You can see the photo here as well as the instructions on page 1. If you want to hang them I'd spread it out over a couple of hooks for both and maybe something under the door too.

I'd just get a bracket that hangs them from the hinges, but I'm used to TJ doors where the window frame is held on by two tiny spot welds.

That makes total sense. I've since taken them down and will most likely build that cart. Thank you for the recommendation and link!

I've hung mine like that since day one and never had an issue.

it’s not a problem until it’s a problem. The doors are designed to last a lifetime hanging from the hinges; I’d rather reduce the risk by doing that instead of hanging from the inside of the window frames and putting pressure and weight where it was never intended to be.

I hang my door similar to that for days at a time to weeks at a time. Zero issues. I've never noticed any flexing of the frame when putting my door on or off the hangers. It seems to be a common practice. I'd think there'd be many horror stories out there if was a problem.

Well that adds a level of uncertainty to this decision then lol.
I'm only expressing my opinion from 7 years and 211K mile of ownership.

My comment was only my opinion and my experience. And my experience just happens to be 7 years of ownership and 211k miles with this particular jeep.

So, I'll rephrase my answer: I've hung mine like that for 7 years and 211k miles and never had an issue. So again, my experience and my opinion.

@tysongladiator I won't disagree with you, but my concern is the 20 pounds Jeep cut out between the JK and JL/JT doors had to come from somewhere. I hung my 2020 JT doors, no issues, on my 2025 it seems like I'm getting more noise after them being on the wall last year. No proof, just got me to think maybe hanging them from the top of the window frame as I was doing wasn't the best thing.

I have always been afraid to hang my doors by the top of the frame JK and JL doors seem a lot sturdier. I have had luck with attaching the vehicle side of some hinges to a piece of dimensional lumber thick enough to space the doors away from the wall and lag bolting to the wall studs. I always see adds for door carts but would rather hang the factory and half doors up out of the way.

this is what i was going to say. I'd also not have them that high off the ground but the perspective is of since we can't see the floor in the picture

Thank you all for the replies. The doors are about 8 feet to the top of the hanger. This was done to avoid the block wall on one side and other existing obstacles on the other wall. Even though others went this route with seemingly no issues, I've decided it's not worth the risk and I'll just build the cart linked above.

Built the cart today. Works great. I just need to make some small adjustments to make room for padding just to be safe. Great idea though! Thank you @Y-Guy and @TheDerb!
