I've seen form the the quote from the manual that they recommend a Mopar filter, and if not a filter that meets standards of blah blah blah. So what filters is everyone using (make - part #) ? I'm not thinking what's best or who's is better, but I know there's the regular filters and I think you may be able to buy those type with the reusable housings and just buy the filter part.

I think my Tundra used those but I always had the dealer do it because Toyota always made the filter hard to get to and more of a project than it should be.

Thanks
Joe
I just use the Mopar MO-349 filter. Mostly because you can get three for $17 off Amazon. That said I wouldn't have a problem using most any name brand filter.

Engine Masters on motor trend tv did a show on filters and compares brands features and flow rates etc. I lost the recording when we switched to Focus Broadband. Can maybe get it to down load.

For now, I’m running the spec Pennzoil as I still get another couple of free oil changes with the dealership from the Jeep Waveprogram… However, I’ve always added an additional half qt of Slick 50 after each change and I run with 94 premium plus Octane Boost for gas.

He runs like a top, idles at 600 rpms - try the Octane boost once and you’ll never go back!

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w-20 I use it in my Rams with 5.7 so I didn't have lifter issues and on this 3.6 for valve train issues some seem to have

Why??
You gain nothing. Octane only resists self-ignition and does ZERO for the engine at all, nothing, nada, doesn't clean anything, doesn't lubricate anything.

For the first year of ownership I used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 0W-20 with MOPAR branded filter. Then switched to Royal Purple 0W-20 High Performance Synthetic Royal Purple branded filter.

I run 87 or 88.
Perfectly smooth, and quiet. No pings, not even when towing in the hills.
Octane ONLY changes how easily the fuel self-ignites. NO more power, it doesn't burn faster or slower, doesn't add BTUs, and doesn't clean anything or lubricate anything.
I won't waste money on additives that aren't needed, or on fuel that don't make any difference.
I tried the high octane stuff a while during towing season - no difference, went right back. Money wasted.

I guess people have a 1960s idea on what "high octane" fuel is or does, and that's long since gone with top tier fuels.

I didn’t invite anybody out there to put in a nice bottle of octane boost into their 93 or 94 and tell me that the Pentastar doesn’t run better - good thing about forums is differing opinions and robust conversation!
