Are you guys sticking to the 0w-20 or running 5w-20 and which brand? Also what size socket for the oil filter? I was thinking about running royal purple 0w-20

I’ll refrain from roasting OP, but there are some great threads on the topic.

I’m a big fan of M1 from my experience with it in my ‘12 JKU, so M1 0w-20 w/ M1 extended performance filter is going in mine.

Super Tech 0w-20, half the price of M1 and from I have read in a average engine like the Pentastar it is just as good.

Valvoline 0w-20 is what I’ve been using (VIOC is across my work parking lot). They also changed my diff fluid and found I had a lot of metal in the rear diff. Been worth it to me so far.
Might start using a shop on my side of town for amsoil just to stay local however.

I believe it is a 21mm .. didn't go pull it of of the tool box. BTW I use Penzoil Synthetic in both my JKUs. Mojave is on order.

Any API current spec 0W-20 meeting the MS 6395 spec and recommended change intervals will do you fine. Everything else is just superlative speculation.

People like to think they are smarter than the engineers and recommend this or that brand or other weight with anecdotal info provided that may or may not be helpful.

That being said, I am a hypocrite and not always follow this advice myself but that is on me. Safest path of least resistance if one is worried about warranty issues is to follow the owner manual,.

I've seen form the the quote from the manual that they recommend a Mopar filter, and if not a filter that meets standards of blah blah blah. So what filters is everyone using (make - part #) ? I'm not thinking what's best or who's is better, but I know there's the regular filters and I think you may be able to buy those type with the reusable housings and just buy the filter part.

I think my Tundra used those but I always had the dealer do it because Toyota always made the filter hard to get to and more of a project than it should be.

Thanks
Joe

I have been using Wix and/or NAPA Gold oil filter for the past 10 years in 3.6 Penstars. I have also found WalMart sells Mopar filters and found some on clearance a while back. You may have luck checking your local store.
