Wheel and Tire Upgrade

I just bought a set of new wheels and tires. I also just ordered the JScan. Since this is my first time doing anything like this, I wanted to ask if there is anything else I am missing. Do I need to buy additional TPMS sensors or can I just have the tire shop put the ones I have now on the new wheels?

The TPMS sensors can just be moved, but they aren't exactly what I would consider expensive if you plan on keeping the old set of wheel and tires around.

Unless you are changing tire sizes and need/want to adjust to correct the speedo (and possibly other things assuming you have the auto trans), JSCAN wasn't really a necessity. Nice to have around for other things as well though.

There are some good Youtube instructional videos on the JSCAN. JSCAN also has a Demo mode where you can play with the app and check out the modules. You probably know this but you will have to get a bypass cable and buy a license for your VIN to use it with your JT.

TPMS sensors can be moved but I just ordered new ones from Rock Auto to keep it simple. That way I was able to sell the old wheels/tires as a complete package.

They are more universal than folks realize.....that said, if you go to RockAuto.com and use your Make/Model/Year info in the dropdowns it will filter by compatible parts.

That all depends upon what you consider an upgrade. Looks? Or dynamics? A real upgrade for me would be wheels no bigger than 17” as light weight but hd as possible and tall sidewall tires passenger rated and light weight as possible. But high quality for durability on a Gladiator with stock payload requirements. No wider than 10” or less. Say a 255/80-17, @33.1”. The biggest enemy of performance is weight, especially unsprung weight like wheel and tires. As far as wide vs narrow? I’ll take narrow anytime on a 4x4!

Weight matters. It always struck me how heavy the Falken tires are compared to the competition of the same size and load range. Not to mention being an old guy when it's time to rotate tires,

The Falkens are typically 10lbs or more heavier. For instance load range C 285/70R17.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 63 lbs.
BFG KO2 51 lbs.

How much poke out are you getting with that tire size and the +12 offset? I'm ready to pick up a set of Method 709's that only come in a +12 offset. Any pics by chance?

Ended up going with the 35x11.5 size but I get about an 1” to 2” of poke.

That is the exact picture angle I've been looking for to help me visualize what the wheels will look like with the +12 offset. Thanks for posting it! The poke isn't super noticeable from that angle I don't think.

Now I'm just trying to decide if I want to pair the wheels with either a 295/70R18 tire (34.5"H, 11.8"W) or a 285/75R18 tire (35.1"H, 11.3"W). I'm hoping I can find a shop with both tire sizes I can compare side by side. I'm guessing they'll be very similar side by side. I'm debating between the MT Baja Boss A/T (which I'm currently running in a 33" tire and I've really loved running) or go with the new Goodyear Duratrac RT which is a lot lighter.
