A little before/after with the stock tires vs Yokohama Geolander X-ATs in 33/12.5/18 on stock Overland wheels. No scrubbing, 1.5 leveling kit. I've thought about using a 1" spacer to push them out a bit, too.?

Never during my entire Law Enforcement career did I ever write a ticket specifically for a raised vehicle, and don't know an officer who did. Thee were attitude citations a plenty, but never because the vehicle was lifted.
I wrote a New Mexico lifted truck once. I'm 5'10" and the exhaust was at my badge. Dude opens the door puts his hand in my face and say's I've already talked to a Cop in Oregon, you cant write me a ticket. I looked at him and said good thing we are in California Challenge excepted. I scratched him a pink with 10 violations, when I walked back to the vehicle dude says sorry officer maybe we got off on the wrong foot, you seem like you know a little about vehicles would you mind if I showed you around the truck and tell you what we did. I look at his passenger and say what had your buddy been smoking when I was writing this ticket. He looked at me and said "what". I say he obviously is smoking some good shit, had he been acting this way when I first came up he wouldn't be getting a ticket. The passenger loses it laughing. Driver shows me the vehicle and I may have scratched a couple things off the ticket. No attitude, no ticket.

Funny thing - all that's ever considered with wheels and spacers is looks (or is it legal)
No one ever looks into or cares or gives a rip about the impact on braking, steering, handling in emergencies or tire wear.
Spacing wheels out increases scrub radius - make it more positive. Some positive is a good thing and is engineered in, too much is a bad thing and can cause troubles in emergency, or cause handling to get worse.

A moderate increase in tire wear, increased steering feedback and braking instability are some of the negative effects that may be experienced when positive scrub radius is increased.

Im the same with most of you on this thread, tend to like the oem wheels or mopar wheels. Reason why I did the mopar slotted wheels on our rubicon with 5.2 backspacing. I really like the the Overland wheels and wished Quadratec would come out with a knockoff like they do the others. I was really concerned though about the 5.2" backspacing with an aftermarket lift which I was definitely doing. My chosen lift recommended a 3.5" backspacing which I definitely didn't want to do. So trying to learn something on the way decided to run 1.75" spacers. Ive been running 295s on our Overland for about 17k miles now and possibly stay with this size or maybe 35s when these wear out. As mentioned before they do sit pretty much flush.
Essentially we have a 6" BS on our oem wheels +44. Adding a 1.75" somewhat gives it a 4.25" functional backspace( O offset) for oem wheel, so that's what I went with. I will post up a couple images of before the spacer and after. with an Overland wheel. And another if anyone is curious if they will clear the fender with a spacer, fully stuffed 295 tire with approx 1" of clearance of the lip. So for sake of info I think I can run easily an 8.5"-9" wheel with a 4.5 BS and possibly do a 35" tire and still clear. Unlike the recommendation from lift manufacturer of the 3.5" Backspacing for Overland/Sport

I have 33X12.5 Tires and went with the 1.5" Spacer with the stock overland rims. So far everything is fine maybe a bit too much poke but I love the look without dropping the $$ right now on wheels

Meant to ask also, what ws the 1.5 in wheel spacer brand/model you went with? and did you have issues with the original studs sticking out the base?

As a norm I'm not a fan of wheel spacers, that is mainly due to Jeeps older hub and 5 on 4.5 pattern. But go figure I just installed wheel spacers (Poison Spider) on my LJ to run 33/12.5Ă—15 on factory rims.? Now my LJ isn't going to be seeing a lot of hwy speed driving and it is to clear control arms.
The negative for them is added wear on the unitized hubs bearings. I seen a lot of people running them on YJ's, TJ's,XJ's and having hub failures. Might be a different game on JK,JL and JT's
Many LEO's don't "stress" lift, headlights and tire laws to the T.... but if you want to play stupid games win stupid prize by showing your Ass. My XJ was long way past GA. lift high limit but I never had any problems about it, while I was A.D. much less after I became a Civ then LEO. ? Now in GA. (then) a blue light(s) on vehicle would get you a lot of attention.

Actually I didn't even ask haha I just dropped it off at the shop to install the lift and tires and made a last minute change to add them. I just went and looked at my receipt and its actually a 2in spacer. Rough country 10085 is part number. And don't think they have any issues with them the shop recommended them when I dropped off.
