When buying out of town, has anyone had any problems getting service or warrantee work done locally?

I've always purchased locally (within 30 miles) for both new and used, and usually found good service at the selling dealer. I am considering using one of the 7-8% off vendors on here, and want to know how those of you that bought out of town have handled service and warrantee claims locally? Any pushback?

I purchased my Gladiator out of state. I had warranty work performed locally within the first 100 miles of ownership without issue.

I plan to have my future service done at the same local dealer.

2 of my most local Jeep dealers refuse to do warranty work if you don't buy from them. I'm still buying from 8 hours south because the local dealers refused to even come close to the 7% below invoice pricing.

Again, all jerk/dealers should be called out for zero customer service, incompetence, etc.

It's not like it's a lie or some sort of slander...it is what it is.

I got a good price from Benson Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Greer. I picked out a Jeep on their website, sent them an email asking for an out-the-door price, spoke with one of the internet sales specialist, got an 8% off offer, and bought the Gladiator. I went up the next weekend for the delivery (I live near Aiken, SC). Everything was fast, efficient, and as promised.

I live outside of Birmingham, AL and went to Concord, NC for my truck. Today, I stopped by a local dealership and asked about the steering issue. I told them that I had purchased out of state because I couldn't find one like I wanted. No problem! They set me up for an appointment Dec. 1, to have it checked out. One of the two guys at the desk said the VIN was not on the list of problem vehicles. The other guy said, he is having steering problems described in the TSB, so we are going to check it out.

8% below sticker. I was very happy with the price. I had been shopping used 2020s around NC and SC. Benson's price on a new 2020 was cheaper than I could get a used for.

I found a couple of used Gladiators going for ~49,500. When I asked for the Carfax, the picture of the original window sticker that comes with the Carfax showed that the the used price was higher than the window sticker. The market for Rubicons seems to be a sellers market,

It is really hard to keep up with what the price should be with all the variations in trim levels and options, especially if you are looking at multiple vehicles. I bought a new 2020 Gladiator Rubicon with the 24R package.

Just another thought.... if a Jeep dealership refuses to do warranty work on ANY Jeep, then wouldn't Jeep Corporate want to know and possibly want to pull their franchise license?

And, what about owners who purchased a Jeep in one state and then had to move to another due to employment? I don't recall reading any warranty info that stated that a dealer can refuse warranty repair based on location of purchase.

They may be able to refuse regular (customer paying) service as that is up to them. But, I don't know why they would want to not service another vehicle anyway.

Gupton outside Nashville will do up to 8% below invoice. Waiting on mine to come in now.

I purchased mine about an hour away. I took it in a few months ago at the local dealer to get the auto stop start fixed. They fixed it but stated they wouldn't do it again because of the aftermarket lights on it. The lights were dealer installed. I stated that, they basically said we took care of it now but they wouldn't if I came back for the same issue in the future.

Of course a month away in Georgia even with my battery unplugged I have that dash light on now. Really don't feel like driving an hour to sit around waiting for a few more for it to get fixed at the dealer of purchase every time I go TDY for extended periods.

Heck we've done that sort of thing for years. They look up the VIN, ask if you are Joe or Sally or whoever, and what you are there for, and that's that. Never any question about where did you buy it.
It's all the same money for them one way or the other - Warranty is paid at flat rates, they don't make any more or any less based on where you buy and frankly, many dealerships are helped to survive based on the shop, not the car sales.

IMO, any dealership that exhibits superior shop work is more likely to see me when I next buy.

We bought my wife's 2021 GC though based on deal, ease of the process, etc. - and they are just too far away to go back for any shop work (4 hour drive one-way) so we'll have it serviced locally.
I explained to the local business manager why we bought from Spencer and she understood - but hinted that next time they might try harder if we show them what others would do for us.

The last time I took my JT in - the tech spent almost 3 hours on my truck trying to figure it out, I wasn't charged a thing. I told them I didn't buy the brake controller from them, and they took a look anyway and spent a bunch of time on it. The fix will have to come from Jeep...... but the tech sure tried even though I bought the part elsewhere, the truck elsewhere, and I installed it myself.
