Having that extra axle is totally pointless. Neat experiment, just to say "it can be done" - but why?? You can't tow/haul any more than it could with one axle or a shorter bed.

About the only thing you can do to make it a legit towing/hauling machine - is take a Jeep Gladiator body (with extended bed) and marry it to a Dually Truck chassis / frame /motor / transmission / axles / brakes / etc. You could also marry the body to a HD truck with Dana60 or bigger. Those trucks are built for it....

You can't just slap another axle under there and assume it'll tow more.

Should've started with this. 😁

I've actually done more research on the subject since that post, and apparently you CAN add GVWR. If an upfitter is willing to re-rate it, with all the ramifications that entails including the liability included in ensuring such ratings are accurate.

That being said, when i search "site:https://www.soflojeeps.com/ +gvwr" and "site:https://www.apocalypse6x6.com/ +gvwr" i get zero search results. So it doesn't sound to me like the largest 6x6 heep upfitters have any interest in re-rating. AKA they are all illegal to operate pieces of excrement.

Always wondered about the middle axle. Who makes it?

Well in December I seen one in Miami, definitely "Mall Rated" and silly with all the cheesy stuff on it.
Now if I "win" a stupid money lottery, I would partly to just post it's build and rest here. A side note.... no lottery tickets. ;) My current JT would not be used in it. Back in 95 or 96 I seen a XJ in Germany that had been made into a 6x6. I was thinking about doing something like it in late 90s but luckily deployments got in the way. I've still got a spot for M35a2 2.5 trucks.

oddly enough I am turning my SCX10ii Axial RC into a 6x6 Gladiator. Going to use this as a donor for the body.
Still on the hunt for a good gladiator body for my Arrma big rock. I think proline makes one. Can’t put one on my Losi 8ight, I love the original body too much 😂
