Why cigarette lighter and not 12v DC???

So I custom ordered a gladiator and many things ended up being wrong. Came in with a bed cover (dealer gave it to me), winter mats, missing parts in the speaker sound bar and a cigarette lighter instead of the 12v connection (with door connection) I'm am not a smoker and don't want to have to look at this switch, unfortunately my dealership will not do anything about it. I didn't order the smoker's package so I am wondering why a cigarette lighter was installed along with how I locate and install what should been installed. Anyone know the part number? Does the whole unit need to be replaced or is there just an door cover that can be added?

I didn't notice until I was driving it home so I did take delivery. Long as I am able to get the part, I'm okay installing it. I will check out the link you pro

The sad thing I didn't notice it until I was driving home. Never came to my mind that I would have a cigarette lighter instead of the 12v. I have tried to search and had no luck finding the part. I will take a look on site you provided. Just looking to have what is in this picture.

Agreed. Just more upset with jeep. Waited 4 months for my jeep and it come with a cigarette lighter. On top the cost of this truck I was expecting better from jeep.

Mine had the "smoker's group" I ditched the cigar lighter and lidded ashtray that just stuck in one of the cup holders, to small for a coin holder too. Heck I'd probably have broken the cover off accidentally by now but I understand. I've since added a few more 12v outlets one by back seat cup holders on vehicle system, under dash for dash camera and a few on "house" battery.
I keep a USB charger plugged into it.

You’re right to be annoyed, so this isn’t a post disagreeing with you. I happen to have the setup you want.

but, the silver lining is, you actually have a better setup. A “cigarette” lighter doesn’t mean you’re a smoker. Maybe you’re camping and need a way to start a fire on a cold night. Or fill in the blank for why you need a fake match.

personally I’d probably just keep it as is as an insurance policy.

My MJ had a f###Ed up ball joint on left side from when manufacturing, first dealership/ shop to agree with me on the clicking noise from it was in Germany. Now that was a P.I.T.A. but my loner vehicle was nice. The dealership had my MJ for a week or two at least, they didn't want to start the job without having a replacement axle available in case it broke when pressing out ball joints. The ball joint was pressed in slightly cooked wedging in place. So stuff happens. ?‍

Again, it's not a cigarette lighter. its always been a 12 volt port. The only thing that makes it a lighter is that they stuck a lighter in the 12 volt port.

Take it out. Problem solved.

Did they leave one of the 6 Pistons out ? Did they leave a rat carcas in the air cond vent ? Was it delivered with a ripped canvas roof ? We're the tires bald ?

This is a SIMPLE thing easily remedied ?

This is quite literally the smallest mistake that could have been made.

Honestly if your this upset about it you should write a strongly worded letter to upper management and picket the dealer.

What would you do had they actually really effed something up that was difficult to change ?

Honestly, I have the door on mine and I would actually prefer to have your setup since I am running a USB adapter out of mine anyways and the door is now flipped up which to me seems more cluttery.
I think in your case yeah it looks wierd to have the lighter these days but yeah essentially if you swap things out you're just paying for a door visually. Maybe do what I did with the flush mount USB charger and make the best of it.

12v ports were born from cigarette lighters. Pull out, throw away, plug in whatever you need to.

A lighter socket and a power point are actually different sockets , generally.. in most instances either will work as a 12V power source. I have , however , seen on occasion a plug-in device that would short circuit inside a lighter socket and blow the fuse but work fine in a dedicated power point. The difference is in the gripping fingers for the lighter element.
