Okay, so you want the diesel for towing. The torque at the lower rpms versus the 3.6 revving high
I won't be towing as much as a few guys here but wanted the capability to. Yes the gas tows more but the diesel tows it better/easier. Plus oversized wheels have less impact.

Im a truck guy, been eyeing the JT since the Brute (last truck paid for 14 yrs owner). I would have never bought a Jeep SUV, had a Range Rover HSE for 6 yrs, I paid $15k with 57k miles! Diesel pushed me over the fence I have a MB 3.0L diesel with 230k. I fix my own rides, plug n play motors probably less then 10k. This will mostly be my last new ride.. I'm 46, kept last truck 15yrs = 61yrs. why do I need more then I have? jeep, red car, harley... I enjoy helpng my kids

Let me add this…with our stupid temperatures here the last week and more upcoming this week (-30 to -40C), there has been a line up of tow trucks at the wife’s dealership of diesels with frozen DEF and air suspension vehicles looking for a place to thaw.
Too bad because I really liked the diesel we test drove, smooth, torquey, but she said no, not meant for our stupid winters….yet.

Just ordered my first diesel from Gupton on Friday, and will be sending my 3.6 to Vroom. The pentastar has always been adequate, but nothing more. I want a truck that has the power to match its attitude.
Just don’t drive it at altitude or tow. The over heating issues are so pathetically bad. I’m so glad I didn’t purchase a diesel.

Was sold on the diesel the day I test drove it. Then when the fuel pump shit. I had 45 days in a gasser. What an underpowered POS and the mpg driving the same way was at best 22. I've seen 29 on a long trip and usually it's around 27 in the diesel. Plus tons of torque. I've never even had to put my foot all the way into it yet. Going up the mountains here I can pull it into manual mode and maintain 8th gear with ease. LOVE IT.

Lol yep thats true as well.

Ahh come on. It was a tongue and cheek comment. Don't gotta get all butt hurt.
no butt hurt, Im an informed and wrench capable gear head.. torn my MB 3,0L diesel down to the oil cooler 3 weeks ago. just dislike sarcastic asses.

The question asked was a reasonable question and deserves a valid answer.. If you have nothing positive to add then go ....... We are suppose to be adults

Definitely not butt hurt on a comment. Butt.....my dealer did me right. Full warranty. Not a dime out of pocket and the rental too was free. Can't complain to much. I did on the other hand have to drive an underpowered POS for 45 days. Except the fact that I did my own homework on the pump and found the part on a shelf in Bakersfield California when Jeep told me they were completely out of stock worldwide. Ehhh it's whatever.

Thats cool dude. I too know a bit of when it comes to diesels (about 15 years worth).

Good to hear that your dealer came through and glad you weren't butt hurt for a little sarcasm. Not trying to derail this thread much more but what HP pump is used?

CP 4 just like all the other diesels. Ford GMC Chevy Dodge all the same. So I've read or been told

I see. Bosch HP pumps are everywhere. I'm familiar with the construction equipment side of diesels and not as familiar with automotive side however, functionality should be the same with some differences for sure.

Back to op's question.
