It is a bit excessive, the vehicle wasn’t designed to require an added fuel lubricant. But we know this lol, preaching to the choir.
It's been a while since I looked into it, but the engine is of Italian design and I believe their diesel fuel does have more lubricity... that's my reasoning for running additive.

Stellantis also says you don't need to service the transmission. Ask ZF about that.

This I believe you are correct on the diesel in Europe is much cleaner and has added lubricity. Diesel in the USA is very dirty and if lubricant isnt added . Its rest in pieces for the lousy pumps they been putting in diesels for the last 20 yrs. I have owned 2 diesel Rams and both constantly changed filters every 6,000 miles and they was always dirty with black filth and I am like the most meticulous person about that stuff. I belive in going over board with Fuel and Oil filters. In my gasser Jeep I have changed the oil 27 times and filters 54 times for a total mileage of 152,600 miles.

There is no doubt it is poor quality fuel! The EPA made them take all the lubricating properties out of it. If you aren’t putting some back in, you will lose the pumps…

Did you see the Dave's Auto video of the Ford Powerstroke owner that had 900,000 miles on his factory CP4 pump? When they tore it down, it still looked like a new pump. The owner always used a fuel additive and most likely filled up at the big truck stops.

I also fill up 99% of the time at Love's Truck stops. For years, I ran biodiesel for lubrication, but now that biodiesel is hard to find (due to a nationwide shortage), I now rely heavily on a fuel additive for lubricity.
Here........Loves and Pilot truck stops diesel prices are $5.89 to $5.99 a gallon. I filled up today at an Amoco at $5.49 across the road from a Pilot that was $5.89.

The problem with American fuel is that nobody is really policing it. Even though fuel additives are added by the supplier with the intent to meet ASTM standards, that doesn't mean that every batch is treated equally. It's been proven that some fuel at the pump doesn't meet the minimum lubricity spec required for the CP4 pump.

Love's offers .25 cents off per gallon if using their app. The other option, although not practical with the Gladiator, is to use a fuel card on the commercial side. I've seen up to a .60 cent savings per gallon using the Opens Roads (TSD Logistics) fuel card.

It's all hook & crook if they can supply then it doesnt need to be that high oil companies are just seizing the opportunity to milk you.

Loves and Pilot truck stops across the country are always the highest prices. They make it convenient for the truckers with big parking lots, showers and truck parts. Plus lot lizards.

So I 'm posting this to vent a little, poke fun at the situation and maybe get some sympathy from like minded people, so here we go again.

I've had my diesel 3.0 since Sep of 2022 and almost 70k miles. It has been great! I love the torque and the MPG and I still believe that with some tweaks this engine is great!

I enjoyed about 1.5 trouble free years until the first pump gave out, like at bout 30k some miles. I was without the jeep for about 39 days. I understand, it was during the parts shortage but the dealership was super difficult to work with, and @JeepCares got involved. The biggest issue was the lack of communication from everyone and the fact I had to wait like a week before getting a loner. But at the end I stuck it out and Jeep responded with an extended warranty plan that covered me until 125K.

But here we are again at almost 70K miles the pump gave out again, but this time feels like different. When I tried to arrange a tow it felt like I was playing phone tag with jeep wave, jeep and the warranty plan. After everything was said and done I ended up paying $160 for the tow, which was like 5 miles all together, and I had to use the same dealership. I was told that they had a new service team and that the experience would be different, it was different, this time I had to wait 3 weeks to get a loaner, so there's that. And now I'm almost at the 4 week line and there's parts issues again, something about a hard line, with no ETA.

So I guess it's anyone's bet to see if I beat my previous record of 39 days :)

Maybe I can get some decals of the CP4 pump with a ❌ layer on top and put 2 of them next to my badges of honor 😁

So... Has anyone been thru 2 fuel pumps yet??
Sorry to hear about the trouble! Hopefully it's the last time... But this is the situation I dread. I just went over 60k and my extended warranty ended. Do I buy another plan... Or.... If yes then which plan?. Hmm

As for the CP4 sticker... That would be kinda funny and convo starter for sure

I like it but I was thinking like a colored picture of it?

or maybe like a scoreboard. Pic of a gladiator on one side and a pump on the other with 2 notches underneath?

I figure that with the amount of us here there would be someone with an artist bone that could come up with a sticker. My best Mona Lisa moment was a stick figure 🤣

I was told by the dealership that the pump goes under the powertrain warranty. Which for the diesel is 100K miles and 5 year I believe
