So you're saying because I like leather seats and air conditioning, that I have a duck collection and don't like hitting the trails ? LolYes!
and to me it says, Its all I could afford and its primarily a Daily driver. No Jeeper in their right mind would/could justify starting with a high trim level to build an off roading beast. (some do, but I don't have that kind of $'s) Now I'm not attempting to ruffle any feathers (epecially SP, my favorite Post troller) but as you all know, everyone has their "ideal JT" in mind before the purchase is ever considered. Either you want to get away, or, you want rubber ducks. When I went to Moab last fall, I did "Chicken Corners" not a bad trail at all, not sure I even put my JT in 4 wheel drive for more than a few minutes, But I came across a couple in a JTR, built "showey" and we "cop stopped" as I was headed in and he was headed out, and we exchanged greetings, which led to me asking how the trail was. He stated it was steep and slick ahead, but if I had a "Rubicon" I would have no trouble, since he barely made it through. I smiled and said said, I don't have a Rubicon and he winced. I let him know I would be just fine, and I was. When done, my wife and I looked and one another and asked ourselves, what was he having trouble with? Bottom line is, no trim level will compensate for the inability to seek out adventure and prevail on the trail. If you want to morph your JT into a over grown quad ATV, attaching plastic snow plows to it and hiding from the outdoors under your noisy, plastic hard top in your perfectly climate controlled leather seat, wonderful, carry on. I hope your duck collection grows to however many you desire your flock to be. Me? I look forward to seeing you on the trails. I'm headed to Moab next week. Itinerary? Metal Masher, Poison Spider-Golden spike trifecta and Cliff hanger to name a few. Having done the Rubicon trail with my 13 yo daughter last year was amazing, never needed winched and she got me through just fine (both my daughter and the JT-sport). Get your city boy butt out of the city and onto the trails, greet some adventure and make a real JT memories with your family, friends and loved ones.
See ya on the trails.
Actually... IMO, regardless of trim or duck collection, I think it comes down to the wheeler and their experience.
BTW, I've seen some very capable offroad jeeps with ducks, its ok to like both.
You've been ducked... lol
