. The JT is too long and I can't use the same type of setup. either backing in or pulling in forwards. Everything is just in the wrong spot. ugh. Think I'm gonna build a storage cart for the yard to place it on.
Can you retrofit your setup on a trolly? We have the same problem. When the jeep is in the garage (backed in), the hard top sits underneath the garage door opener. We installed Unistrut on the ceiling and an electric hoist..... we have just enough clearance to lift the top up enough to drive out from under it. Then....we just move the top (on the trolly) away from the garage door opener and hoist it up higher. Works like a charm!

eh, not really. My setup consists of eyebolts in the ceiling. From that I suspend cam lock straps that lift the top via 2x4's that run under the top. I think the unistrut would be cantilevered out a ways to for me to get to be over the top. I know the top isn't that heavy but I also like simple. ;) Curious what you used for a trolley "wheel" in the unistrut?

I live in Iowa, and have a hoist a top mounted to the ceiling in my garage. I take the top and doors off as often as possible and leave them off as long as I can. Last year was pretty much June - September. This year so far 2 weeks in May, and otherwise has been a lot of rain. Coming off this weekend though!

I would like some feedback or some help understanding why more people that own gladiators or wranglers don’t take the doors and top off when the weather is nice. I have a hard top Mojave and whenever the weather gets 73 or higher I take the doors and entire top off. The reason I bought a gladiator was for the truck bed, off road potential and the ability to take the doors and top off. The way I see it is if you’re not going to do that why get a jeep. There are other options out there with bigger engines and towing capacity. I get that some owners are soccer moms and young kids that just think it looks cool but I’ve driven by guys my age in their forties on a nice day with the windows up. I just don’t get it. Give me some different perspectives please. Thanks
73 or higher is too hot. I prefer 60-70 for the full exposure.

I am searching for temporary rain protection (while naked) but don't have room to store both a hard top & soft top. But, we'll see.....
Mopar sells a cover, rain gear does too, or bestop.

Just got back from a fifty mile round trip for an errand, no doors and just a bikini top. Weather is sunny and a little warm at 101°F, the shade from the bikini keeps it perfectly tolerable.

Just what I want in my $50k+ Jeep...tolerable. I prefer enjoyable and comfortable but you do you.

I take freedom front off a lot. The doors I need to get a mirror and i just never seem to find one i like or pull the trigger. The rear roof is harder to undo, especially given that my wife and i are short, the jeep is lifted, and we don’t have space to raise it off via pulley because we have a smartcap with rack and RTT on behind it (And only 9ft ceilings)

Well, for me, I don't have a garage to store the top in, or my Overland to protect from inclement weather. Well, I do have a two car garage but, it's full of things, and not cars. I live in (inherited) the house I grew up in that was built in '69 (I was 6 when it was finished) and there was NEVER a time that any cars were ever in the garage.

One other thing, in Pennsylvania it's still currently illegal to drive without the doors on your vehicle even though they are built to be removable. I see a lot of PA Jeeps driving around without doors so the PoPo lets it slide but, get one PoPo who's wife/girlfriend/side chick didn't satisfy him or pissed him off that morning, and one could be looking at a nice big ticket.

Senate Bill 298 allows doorless driving for vehicles such as Jeeps and Broncos in Pennsylvania. The legislation adheres to logistical and safety standards important to residents and law enforcement, including requiring side view mirrors when doors are removed and upholding the seatbelt protections in place for minors.Mar 1, 2023

Sounds like it's legal now but not a PA resident so not investing anymore time than a Google search.

I’ve owned my Gladiator for exactly two weeks. It’s spent more time naked (mostly, I did add sunshades) than not. That’s one of the big reasons I bought it. And a cheap rain cover, which I bet I’ll end up upgrading to a nicer one. As much as I’ve used this one I think I’m going to wear it out quickly. .
