Related to the rim width part, I wish Jeep would ship with 8" wide rims on the Rubicon to properly fit the typical 35" tire width (12.5) that the rest of the vehicle easily fits. Ford did this for the Ranger Raptor. I'm fine running 11.5, but seems like a small miss given the rest they did, or give us a cheapo donut package for those wanting to swap immediately.

Edit, I mispoke: 8.5" rims on the RR, which is what most 12.5" need.

Did it. Went from 35 12.5, Nitto's to 3 11.50 Falken's
Good- Much quieter, air down good and betteroff road
Bad- Gas Mileage took a huge drop (I was expecting the opposite), Stability seems worse at highway speeds.
Could it be the differences in brand? Sure. But its my only real world test.

My 2021 used Gladiator Rubicon
purchased in 2023
came with 35x12.5 tires
on Fuel Fusion wheels.

Swapped out
with a new 2023 Gladiator Rubicon owner
for their OEM 33x11.5 tires and wheels.

No regrets.
Improved handling
and throttle response.
It became positively sporty.
No noticeable lack of traction in sand.

There is a trend back to "pizza cutter" tires.
The idea is they cut through the soft stuff
and get down to firmer ground.
Fat tires may be better on rocks,
but I don't have any around me.
Our local high school football team
is called "The Sandies"
and have a dust devil for a mascot.

Driving a Ford M151 jeep
pulling a loaded M416 trailer
in the 1971 Reforger III exercise
in West Germany
following a convoy of Deuce and a halfs
in very deep mud
convinced me.

Retired. Beach bum.
I personally want to thank you for all the work you’ve done. That proves what I’ve been told over the years. What Nito has done for you, plus hearing how they need the less weight to balance will be a huge factor when I go to replace my tires. I believe for my use a tire on the narrow side will benefit me, especially on the highway in a heavy summer rain in Central Florida. Plus the beaches here have a harder type of sandy surface compared with the deeper soft sand up north. As far as mud? I shy away from it!
