So I saw the original idea on the JL Wrangler forum and decided to post up my experience with this mod here.

If you install aftermarket inner fenders on the diesel most of the time they require you to relocate the the windshield washer fluid reservoir and I did not feel like paying $250 for Motobilt's version.

This US plastics 3. Quart washer fluid reservoir is perfect because it fits the stock pump and will work with the stock sensor and inlet after drilling it out.

A radiator house was used to extend the stock inlet so it can stay in the stock location. I angled the bottle so it won't rub on anything and used a stock bolt and self tapper screw for the right side, and a bracket on another stock bolt. A zip tie was used to attach the left side of the bottle to it.

AAL liners fit with a note.

Eco-Diesel
Important Note
The windshield washer fluid reservoir on the diesel JL/JT protrudes pretty far into the tire space of the driver’s side front wheel well. Our diesel-specific inner fenders are formed around this reservoir. However, with larger tires (ex. 39″ and above) the clearance between the tire and reservoir (even without inner fenders installed) is non existent when the axle flexes. For this reason, we don’t recommend running tires over 37″ on the diesel without relocating the windshield washer reservoir. After relocating the windshield washer fluid reservoir, you can run the non-diesel front inner fenders and avoid this clearance issue.

Awesome info and pics! Thank you for sharing. Would love the reservoir part number if you get a chance to post it up here.

IMO if you're bothering to do inner liners and they say they work with the stock bottle then look for other liners. The bottle is in the way, it needs to move. You're just spending money to still have shit in the way.

I run the Savvy liners and did go the Motobilt route and they still hit it. Required a good bit of massaging to the tank, then some rubber weather seal between it and the aluminum liner to keep from hearing the occasional vibration. But I've got as much room as I can have in the wheel well for the tire and that was worth it.

Also the Motobilt holds a gallon. That 3 quart US Plastics option is amazing though, I think when I was looking I could only find the 2 quart as being confirmed to fit and I wasn't willing to give up half my reservoir volume. If I did it again I'd probably get that 3 quart tank.

Great info, OP.

Links for the parts.
Thank you for reminding me, I did not have time to link the parts used when I started the thread.

3 Quart tank: US Plastics

Radiator Hose: Autozone

Original Thread on JL Forums: JL Forums

I did cut a few inches off the lower part of the filler neck so I could use it to connect the radiator hose to the tank. Then I trimmed the radiator hose until it was the right length.
