After reading and seeing Jeep's with cracked windshields, we got full glass coverage on the Gladiator. Chips are fixed for free. Windshield replacement would be free too if we needed it; I think 2/yr.
What is your insurance carrier? It may be worth switching for the windshield coverage since I have a jt and my wife has a jl.

We can't even get glass coverage in PA, according to our agent. I guess that's the price you pay to live in Paradise! ;)

I thought California was PARADISE?

Down in the crowded bars out for a good time,
Can't wait to tell you all what it's like up there
And they called it paradise, I don't know why
Somebody laid the mountains low while the town got high
Then the chilly winds blew down across the desert,
Through the canyons of the coast to the Malibu
Where the pretty people play hungry for power
To light their neon way and give them things to do
..............................

They called it paradise, I don't know why
You call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye

I got my first star, and it spread pretty quickly. Now I'm looking at getting it replaced, but am getting quoted $600 because I have the safety package with ACC and FCD. I know there's a little section of defrost wires over that camera, and the extra black paint around the ACC box, but since I don't use the ACC and turned off the FCD, is there any reason I couldn't get the cheaper windshield replacement and save some money? Is there a physical size difference or something besides the defrost wire terminals? None of the glass places around here will give me a straight answer, and with the rate these things seem to crack, I'd sure like to save a few hundred each time I have to replace one. Appreciate any info you can offer.
There is a new gorilla glass screen available for the it, warranted for 2 years costs just south of 700

State Farm $100 deductible, trying to get it replaced right now in fact, kind of a p.i.t.a. I have to use a State Farm certified shop and the person I’m working with is insisting I have lane departure and it will need to be recalibrated, I told them it doesn’t have lane departure plus the windshield folds down so every time I put the windshield down it would need to be recalibrated I would think common sense would prevail but she still insists on speaking to a dealer.

When my father was killed by the sleeping driver, he was driving his bought-new 2010 Ford Ranger truck. It was a shortbox, short wheelbase and thus a higher resale value. Further, it had the tow package and had only about 33,000 miles on it (it was the ONLY new vehicle my parents ever bought, and as they had other cars, that truck was kept inside and driven only when a truck was needed or Dad was going out to the country to pick up cans for redeeming (worth 5 cents each to him)
Anyway, his insurance company came back with a low-ball offer on paying for the truck - 3500 bucks. WOW. They used a third party that specialized in valuing vehicles for insurance companies.
I told them to go to XXXX in a nice way. I was not allowing the estate to settle. They insisted that the truck had 133,000 and some miles on it. Nope, and I sent them a pic of the speedometer area. What they were seeing is the decimal spot after the dot - and figuring that newer vehicles don't show tenths so that one would not, either. And they insisted it was a long wheel base and they left off the tow package and more. I went back and forth with them for a MONTH. I scanned and sent them the WINDOW STICKER that showed the tow package, showed the WHEELBASE and another pic of the odometer. Nope, they said the VIN was final, and it didn't include a tow package. They would not consider the window sticker. I shot them what I thought the truck was worth using NANA and other sources and showed them pictures of the 2" receiver, the trailer wiring plugs and other info.
Apparently not all things actually show up in the VIN - like the tow package as that's all they would go by. I finally told them that unless they met MY demands and my figure, we were not going to settle and I showed them the odo again AND SCANS of the receipts from the local FORD dealer that did his oil changes and said, look, the man was 85 years old - how the heck was he going to drive over 100,000 miles in a month as it was serviced just a month before he was killed.
I had multiple dealer invoices that showed every time it was ever serviced and told them I'd not even talk to them again until or unless they looed at those invoices.
It worked - they came back with an offer that was a bit MORE than I wanted.

Bottom line - these insurance companies hire 3rd party idiots that can't see past the end of their own noses -and their reliance on their computer records is a bunch of BS as often they are WRONG and in my Dad's case, the VIN didn't show it was a short wheelbase with a tow package!
Stick to your guns - even if your truck was loaded with all options, it would NOT need to be re-aligned. Mine was NOT and works perfect. The equipment is mounted to the frame structure, not the glass.
